After everyone left, I decided to make a call to dad. Within minutes he and Tony pulled up in the driveway and they came in with their guns drawn almost giving Nana a heart attack.

Poor lady, I never heard her speak so much Spanish in my life. Most of the time she tries to stick to English to make it easier for me.

"Mija what's going on," dad asked as he holstered his gun as did Tony.

"My friends all received this message the other day," I said, showing the message I had sent to my phone.

He took it and looked at it along with Tony.

"You're saying each received the same exact message?"

"Sí Papi."

He looked at Tony, pulling him aside and speaking with him. Tony nodded and headed out.

"What's going on Papi?"

He put his hands on my arms, "I'm hoping nothing but from the looks of it, Mendoza's kid knows who you are."

"Are you sure?"

"I hope not, but you can't be too sure nowadays. Does anyone know who I am?"

"No, I've kept to the story we always use."

"Good, you need to keep it that way, mija. The less people know, the better. I have to get back, but I promise we will get to the bottom of it. We'll put details on you for the time being."

"No Papi," I whined.

"It'll be fine. He'll blend in with the rest of you."

"Fine."

He gave me a kiss and headed out the door. I headed to bed.

"Well," Tony asked dad as he climbed into the car.

"Well, now she knows there is going to detail on her, this makes my job a whole lot easier."

"You know she's going to hate you when she finds out," he said to dad.

"Yeah, but if it means keeping her safe, so be it," he said dialing a number and letting it ring until a voice answered.

Hello?

"Does she suspect?"

No.

"Well, keep it that way. I told her she will have a detail which will consist of you and Drew. Drew she will know but you she won't. Not until we catch Mendoza. By the way, did you figure out who his kid is?"

Oh yeah, and he's a real piece of work. I've been able to keep her away from him, but Manny you owe me big time.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know I owe you a lot."

By the way, it was great seeing your mom again. I love her cooking.

"Be happy she likes you. She doesn't like many people. She didn't blow your cover, did she?"

No, thanked God, but she knows the drill.

"I know. We're headed to the base right now. Let me know if you hear anything."

Will do. Tell Tony he owes me lunch.

Dad looked at Tony, who rolled his eyes, "You got it." Then he ended the call.

"Let's hope this doesn't blow up in our face," Tony said.

"He's good and I know he'll protect her."

They headed toward the base to do more surveillance.

I hung up with Manny. Sending Drew it was a good choice. She would suspect less with him there. I was sure Mrs. Martinez was going to blow my cover when I showed up with the other guys. My backstory was tight and it took me months to gain their trust.

I pulled up to the house and parked the car in the driveway. I got out and went inside. Once inside I was met by another agent who was much older looking which helped with his cover as my father.

I tossed my keys onto the table. We walked into the living room and I sat down in a chair. Drew was sitting on the couch with his feet propped up on the coffee table. Agent Ash took a seat in another chair.

"So, how did it go," Ash asked.

"We're in. We got her to call a truce. Plus, I talked to Manny," I said.

"What did Manny say"? Ash asked.

"Drew's going in as a student, but is going to tell Sasha, who he really is since she knows she's getting a detail. She just won't know who I am."

"Ugh, I fucking hate high school," Drew groaned.

"Yeah, not a fan myself, but thanks to our youthful looks we get the high school deal," I said to him.

"What about Mendoza's kid," Drew asked.

"Oh, he's a lot of fun to deal with. The other two guys hate him as much as I do. Plus, he sent all of us this message," he said, handing his phone to Drew, who read the message and then handed it to Ash.

"What is this guy? Twelve," Drew asked.

"No, he thinks he's some tough guy. His cousin Gia is worst. She was supposed to be friends with Sasha and dropped her like a hot potato. I'm pretty sure she told Giovanni, Sasha's here."

"I still don't understand how they are passing off as Italian when they're Mexican for crying out loud," Drew said in an exasperated tone.

"Easy when your dad looks Italian and gets a few alterations and does the same with their kids," Ash said.

"That's just sick," Drew said.

"Well, we are dealing with a warped mind," I said. "I'm going to head to bed and so should you Drew. School starts early."

"Yeah, yeah," Drew said, getting up and heading to a bedroom.

I went into the room I've been using as a bedroom and changed my clothes. I picked up a picture of Sasha and laid it down on the bed and looked at it. She did look like her mother from the pictures Manny showed me.

Then having met her, we didn't exactly hit it off, but I needed it to be that way just so she didn't get suspicious. I know it's just a case, but I couldn't help what I was starting to feel for her. Manny would kill me if he found out I was feeling this way. I had to keep it in the back of my mind it was just a case, nothing more, nothing less.

Why couldn't I tell my body the same? Every time I came into contact with her I felt butterflies in my stomach. God, please don't let her fall in love with me, I didn't want to break her heart.
