Someone was screaming incomprehensibly. I couldn't see anything through the blur of the lights. Caleb had been here, we'd fought, and then he'd vanished. Or had I left him? Now I could see a flash of red, but the high was wearing off, and this was the worst part for me. When the crescendo of light and sound flooded me, filled my ears with cotton, blurred my vision, and drained my lungs until they were like paper. I was suffocating. And then I was falling. And then there was nothing.
