The Snapchat Mistake That Lead To Ethan Wacker

Chapter 17 The Day In Town

I woke up and went out with Ethan to do my chores. We were in the goat barn and he asks me if I could teach him how to milk a goat. I look at him with a smile and ask "Do you really want to learn?" He returns the smile and says, "Yea, of course I want to." "Okay" He comes over to me and he sits down next to me. I back up as he scoots forward towards the goat. I get the wet paper towel and the pail. I set the pail down underneath the goat and I wipe off the goat's udders. I start to milk the goat and ask Ethan if he is ready. He says, "Yea." He tries doing it by himself but is having a hard time so I ask if he needs some help. In defeat he says, "Yea maybe just a little help" We both laugh and I take his hands in mine and show him how. When he finally gets it by himself, he jumps up with joys and starts screaming, "I did it, I did it" I laugh and smile at him. When he eventually she me laughing at him, he stops and says, "Was I a little too excited?" After I chuckle I tell him, "Yea maybe a little bit." He takes a step closer to me and says, "You look cute when your laughing." "Thanks you look cute when your excited" I tell him. With a sarcastic tone he says, "I try to look cute all the time." I chuckle and he leans in toward me, as I lean towards him. We both close our eyes, as one of his hands are on my cheek/neck and his other hand is together with mine. When we both pull away from each other because of one of the goats bleat (bleat is the sound a goat makes). He says, "Maybe we should get back to the goats?" I say with a smile, "Yea maybe we should." We finally finished all my chores and I head out to the fields to check on the hayfields for my grandpa while Ethan goes back to the house.

I check the hayfields and then go to my spot in the field. I think about the things that Ethan and I are going to do while in town, about Aubrey and Cody, and everything else that is going on in my life. 

I am heading back to the house to get ready to go when Cody slows down from a run to a walk next to me. "Hey," he says. I look at him and say, "What do you want?" He looks at me with a surprised and disgusted face, "I don't want anything but what is with the attitude?" I give him a death stare and say, "You disrespected my best friend, you should expect to get some attitude." I walk up to the house as he walks to the barn. 

When I get to the house I go downstairs to my room. As I pass Ethan, he stops me and says, "Can I talk to you?" I look at him puzzled and say "Yea" as I sit down on the couch. He sits down next to me and looks at me. I start to get worried, did I do something wrong, what happened, is everything okay. I eventually get the words, "What's wrong?" out of my mouth. He says, "Since I have been here, I have noticed that Cody seems to be around a lot. I don't want to sound mean or jealous but does he like you as more than just a friend?" Many things are running through my mind, should I tell him what happened between us, should I lie to him, what will I do, what will he do if I tell him. I decided that I should just tell him the truth and if he doesn't understand, then oh well. I look at him with sad eyes and take his hand in mine and tell him what Cody had told me a couple weeks ago and what had happened between us. When I finish I ask him if we are okay, he says, "Yea, I think we are good." I smile and give him a small kiss on the lips, he says, "I am almost ready to go, are you?" I nod my head and head to my room, change and grab my stuff and head upstairs.

By the time we get into town, it is about lunchtime so his mom drops us off at the small deli shop and goes to do her errands. We both order an Italian sub sandwich with fries and a cookie. We fill up our drinks and sit down in the corner booth of the cafe.  I take a sip of the pink lemonade in the Pepsi paper cup and look up at Ethan sitting across from me. He looks at me and asks, "How long have you been living here?" I reply to him, "My whole life, I have never moved anywhere else." We are still talking about things to do when our food comes. We stop talking while we eat our food. We decided that we should go bowling to pass the time. We walk to the bowling alley holding hands. When we get to the bowling alley, we get our shoes and head to the first lane. We start our game and I get 2 spares in a row and Ethan gets 6 pins down in total. He asks me how am I so good at this? I tell him, "Well it is really the only thing to do around here so I get a lot of practice." Ethan laughs and says, "I definitely need a lot more practice." We giggle and continue to bowl. When we finish our games, which I won, we return our shoes and bowling balls and we go to the arcade. 

We played air hockey and when Ethan hits the winning puck into my goal he starts jumping up and down saying, "Yes I bet you at something." I laugh at him and he gives me a hug. We play the other games and when Ethan's mom texts us that she is on her way to pick us up we decide to hand in our tickets. Ethan had 214 tickets while I only had 97. He was a lot better at all the games then I was. I decide to get this ice cream cone that the ice cream pops out. I also get this dark blue bracelet. I give the bracelet to Ethan to wear. He gets a bracelet too and gives it to me, its a bright purple. He also gets an ice cream cone slingshot thing and two little green turtle erasers. He gives an eraser to me and says, "Twinzies!" I couldn't help but laugh and he gives me a hug. He then kisses me and as I pull away after the kiss I couldn't keep the smile from leaving my face. We head towards the door. When Ethan's mom pulls up he opens the door for me and I smile and thank him as I get in. He gets in on the other side. On our way back to my house we tell everything well some things. After we tell her everything that we did she says, "You guys must have had a very nice day." "Yea," we both say at the same time and laugh. 

When I get home we go and do my chores and then head to the barn. We see Alex feeding the baby calves and we tell her we will finish here. We are both holding a bottle when Cody comes in and says, "Hey guys, where have you been all day?" I look at Ethan and I catch a glimpse of him looking at me before he turns to face Cody. Ethan says, "We went to town for the day." "Oh," Cody says, then walks away. I refill the calf bottles and hand one back to Ethan, when he says, "Tomorrow is my last full day here." "I know," I say with a sad voice. "I am really gonna miss you," Ethan says. "Yea me too." We finish up the chores we go back to the house. We all eat dinner which was lasagna with mashed potatoes and french fries and for dessert we had brownies. 

After dinner, I took a shower and my mom came down to my room while I was brushing my hair. She hands me an envelope. I look to see who it is from and I see it is from my school. "Omg my schedule came, it finally came." Everyone else was getting their schedules too and I wanted to know who was gonna be in my classes. I give my mom a hug and she heads upstairs. I quickly grab my phone to facetime Aubrey. As soon as she answers I loudly say, "I got my schedule, I finally got it." She screams to the phone, "Finally, let me get mine." When she returns with her schedule we compare our classes. We have all the same classes except I have Ag first period and Spanish last while she has Spanish first and Art last. It's okay we tell each other because we are in every other class. Aubrey and I have gotten very lucky throughout the years with classes and school. We have been in the same class since Kindergarten and even in middle school and Freshman year we were able to make it in most of the same classes. 

I go to bed happy knowing Sophomore year should go as well as Freshman year.
