"Finn", Millie whispered in a hushed voice raising her finger to her lips. Her hand still gripping mine lowered me down behind a bush, "keep your voice down, look across the street."

I nodded slightly as I peered over the edge of the bush, the soft leaves trailing over my skin.

"You've got to be kidding me", I sighed lowering myself back onto the ground, "do they live around here?"

"I'm not sure, Caleb and Gaten live somewhere around the middle sector, and Noah, I'm not really sure about", Millie replied all while keeping her eyes glued onto them, "but we can't let them see us, we're already in enough trouble as it is."

"Well what do you propose instead?", I asked pulling my hands through my short curly hair, "it's not like we can just walk across the street and expect them not to come and bother us."

"Just follow what I do, we'll be ok."

"Millie I really don't think this is gonna work", I spoke swiftly, glancing over my shoulder every couple of seconds. Luckily they hadn't spotted us yet, for now we were safe, but for how long has yet to be determined.

"Let's just go back to the forest, we can hide there until night, by then I'm sure the police will be fine, they were probably just surveying the waters or something", I felt the air between us grow thick, you could slice the tension surrounding us with a knife.

"No", she spoke coldly, "they would never do that, they hate to worry us in fear that we'll want to know what's going on. There's only one reason why they would be searching the river.

Millie harshly blinked her eyes as she looked up at me, her face was mixed with all sorts of emotions and expressions.

"They know I'm here don't they?", I asked taking in a deep breathe of the fresh air, "but they don't know what I look like, right?"

"No, they don't", she exhaled gripping my hand tighter, "but they'll be adding more security to the area, that means we're gonna have to find you a real bracelet."

I ran my hand over the smooth band, "but how will we do that?"

"I know a guy, he owes me some favours-"

"Hey wolfhard, and look who's with him, the weirdo", Caleb shouted from across the street.

The airs on my neck stood up as a chilling sensation ran down my spine, "leave us alone Caleb."

"Why should I?", his voice was closer now, yet I resisted the urge to looks towards him.

"Go mind your own business", Millie's hair drifted across her face she she ripped her hand from mine, "just get out of here, please you're gonna regret ever having anything to do with us."

"And why is that?"

The curiosity had taken over, I gave into the urge and looked over to Caleb. He was standing only a few centimetres from Millie while Noah and Gaten surrounded her from behind.

"If I told you, I'd have to kill you", Millie spoke through gritted teeth, with her hands clenched into tight fists against her sides

"Id like to see you try", Caleb stepped forward sending Millie stumbling back into Gaten and Noah's arms, who only pushed her back onto her feet and closer to Caleb.

"Leave her alone", I pushed Gaten aside and pulled Millie back, "don't think you're so special, the only reason you're popular is because people are afraid of you."

Millie pulled my shirt nudging me back onto the sidewalk "Finn we need to go, now."

She held tightly onto my shirt as I regained my balance, "Millie do you hear-"

"The sirens? Yeah I hear them too."
