The next morning I was up and ready for school by seven. I was in a pair of white jeans and a red shirt; my hair was tied in a ponytail due to waking up late. The thing I was worried about most though, was talking to Sam and making her listen. She was stubborn and mad at me, a bad combination.
Finding Sam was easy; and as the bell rang for lunch I grabbed onto her elbow, pulling her to a stop. She turned with a fake smile stretched onto her face, but it fell away as soon as she saw me. “What do you want?” She asked harshly, yanking her elbow out of my grip. Her face was guarded and her blonde locks were tied in a lose ponytail.
I gulped, here was my chance. “Samantha, I honestly meant to tell you; I was just so caught up in everything.”
“Too caught up to tell your best friend about your boyfriend?” She asked sarcastically, making me flinch.
“I’m sorry, Sam, I’m really sorry. It just didn’t matter to me what he was and I had no idea you would care so much, Brian did, but I don’t know. I just expected you to react the same way I did, I’m sorry. You know I tell you everything,” There, it was all out. The choice was up to Sam; she could forgive me or stay angry at me. I pursed my lips and waited for her reaction.
To my surprise, Sam jumped at me, tackling me in a hug. I hugged her back cautiously as she laughed, “I know I overreacted. But, next time anything exciting happens you will tell me!” She pulls back smiling a real smile.
I grinned, “You’ll probably want to hear about what happened this weekend then.”
Sam nodded eagerly, “Everything. Why weren’t you here yesterday or Monday?”
I hesitated glancing around at all the people I decide to say, “You should come over on Friday and I’ll tell you everything.”
“Sleep over?” Sam asks and I nod, making her smile bigger. “Awesome and we’re also going to go shopping. I really need a few new outfits…” Samantha trailed off about her and her brother’s paint-balling that resulted in ruining one of her shirts and her favorite pair of jeans. I listened to all of it, happy that she was my best friend again.
When Thursday came around I was at Logan’s house, spread out on his couch. My head was on his lap and he was playing with my hair as we finished watching ‘Harry Potter’. The credits began to roll and I turned my head so I could see Logan’s face. He let go of my hair and I pushed myself up gently placing a soft kiss on his lips. When I pulled away he groaned, “Why can’t I see you tomorrow?”
I rolled my eyes, “I already told you. Samantha is coming over and she made me promise it would be a girls’ night.” He pulled my lips back to his as soon as I finished talking, mumbling something about stupid best friends. I laughed, but kissed him back, feeling one of his hands tangle in my hair and the other on my hip. When I pull back, I glance at my watch and climb off the couch, informing Logan, “I have to go.”
He stands and kisses my cheek muttering, “Why?”
I laugh, “Because I have a stupid curfew.” Brian decided to place a curfew on me when he agreed I could date Logan. “Can I come over on Saturday?”
Logan nods, “I’ll pick you up at three. You’re meeting my mom, remember?” I groan, wondering how I’d managed to forget, but happy I did. I kissed Logan again and made my way to the door, smiling when he called out another goodbye. I waved behind me and went home. The whole time I was worrying about meeting his parents.
As soon as Sam was at my house she ran to my room and bounced on my bed, she fell into a sitting position as she demanded, “Tell me everything!”
