Madelyn’s POV
“Aunt Paige!” The kids’ yelling woke me up from my sound sleep. I rolled over to see Justin still sleeping. The clock said it was eleven. I couldn’t believe the kids had gotten up without waking us up, but I wasn’t complaining. Three months on tour had worn me out.
But sleep was suddenly the last thing on my mind when I heard Paige was downstairs.
“Hey sister!” She smiled as I walked down the stairs, looking a little rough since I had just rolled out of bed. She, on the other hand, was glowing. Even though she was seven months pregnant, she still looked amazing.
“Paigey, you look so good.” I gave her a hug. Although I had missed Paige, I had really missed Logan. But she had moved into her dorm last week, so she wasn’t with Paige this morning.
“Paige brought us breakfast!” Aria held up a bagel.
“We called her and told her we were hungry since there was no food here.” Aniston explained when I had a puzzled look on my face.
“You could’ve woken me up. I am your mother after all. I’m supposed to feed you.”
“We didn’t want to wake you up. Dad always says: Mom is grouchy when she doesn’t sleep enough, so never wake her up.” Kingston said, taking a huge bite out of a bagel.
“Good lesson to learn. Never wake Paige up either, okay?” She joked with them.
Justin’s POV
After Paige’s visit, the rest of the day was spent around the house. We got various visitors who came to welcome us home, like my mom and Selena. Madelyn took Stella to her audition. But for the most part we just had a chill day.
“Do you think they are really all asleep?” Madelyn whispered to me as Tangled played on the television. We were surrounded by sleeping kids, which was a rarity since it was only one in the afternoon.
“It appears that way.” I whispered back, being careful not to wake them up. I was scared if we even moved they would all wake up. And since everybody was running a little low on sleep, everybody was a little grouchy. I knew that waking them up after a ten minute nap would lead to major grouchiness.
“I think I’m going to try to get up.” She slowly started to move Aria, who had fallen asleep sprawled out on top of her.
“Don’t go. Where are you going?” I pleaded, not wanting to ruin this moment.
“I need to go run.”
“Babe, run later. How often do we get moments like this? Aren’t you the one who always wants to cherish the moment? Here’s a moment for you to cherish.”
“Fine.” She relented, relaxing back into her previous position. She laid her head back on my shoulder and I felt myself relax as well.
Madelyn’s POV
As soon as the kids were in bed I went to change into my running clothes. It was already eight, but I knew I needed to run today. I didn’t have time for any days off with my marathon coming up so soon.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Justin said as he walked into the room.
“I need to run.”
“Madelyn! It is dark outside!”
“Justin! You are the one who stopped me from going earlier. So if you want to blame this on anyone, you can blame yourself.”
