Justin’s POV

If I thought Madelyn went overboard for Christmas normally, it was ten times as exaggerated this year. Between picking out the absolute perfect tree, and nothing less, and mandating a whole day for decorating the house, she was sure to make this the best Christmas ever.

Every night after the kids went to bed, she would work on planning their big Disney surprise. She was just as excited as the kids were going to be. I thought she was crazy, but I didn’t dare tell her that.

“So Logan is babysitting tonight while we have a date night.” She said quietly as she finished getting dressed.

“And?”

“And I told her Carter could come over, too.”

“The boy?! The boy who is defiling baby Logan?!” I wasn’t over it, even though she thought I should be. “He is not hanging out with my kids.”

“Justin, you haven’t even met him officially. She’s really nervous about you meeting him, so be good?”

“Why are you just assuming it’s okay? I said no!”

“He’s coming. Behave.” She kissed my cheek as she walked out of the room. I couldn’t help but let my eyes stare at her backside, as her jeans were making it look as lovely as ever. I was excited about our date, but I was more excited for after our date.

“Maddie! He’s here!” Logan yelled into the kitchen two seconds before I heard the doorbell.

“Be nice.” I whispered to Justin as we walked into the entry way together. Carter was hugging Logan, and I already felt Justin tensing.

“Maddie, Justin, this is Carter.” She introduced us formally.

“It’s nice to meet you.” I shook his hand, getting my first good look at him. He was cute. Scruffy blonde hair. Nice body. I could see why Logan was attracted to him.

“You look different with clothes on.” I couldn’t tell if Justin was trying to joke, but he didn’t laugh. Carter looked embarrassed, staring at the ground. I jabbed him with my elbow.

“Alright,” I ended the awkward silence. “We should go. The kids are all downstairs. Dinner is on the stove. Bedtimes are still at nine. We’ll see you later, probably around ten.”

“Have fun!” Logan shooed us out the door.

“If they have sex under our roof, I’m going to murder that boy.” He whispered.

“Alright, baby.” I just laughed, knowing that’s all I could do when it came to protective Justin.

Justin’s POV

We went to dinner at Madelyn’s favorite restaurant before we headed to the mall to Christmas shop for the kids.

“What about this for King?” Madelyn held up a pair of black shoes.

“No. He doesn’t wear anything but Supras and Adidas.”

“More like you won’t let him wear anything else.” She sighed. She grabbed three pairs of Uggs and looked at me. “You find your son shoes. I have the girls covered.”

“We’ve bought them Uggs every single year. Do they really need more?”

“It’s tradition. And besides, a girl can never own too many Uggs.”

“Oh I think they can.” I thought about the girls’ closets. Aria, who got the older girls hand-me-downs, had over ten pairs of Uggs.
