Justin’s POV
For the first time since I had gone to London, I got a full night’s sleep. I wasn’t stressed about my marriage. I wasn’t fearful that Madelyn had completely move on from me. She still loved me and I still loved her. Things were good.
When I woke up, I had an email from Tony telling me not to come to set until I had heard from him. I had no idea why, but I didn’t question it. Instead I spent the morning relaxing. I took a shower, watched a soccer game, even had time to read the paper and catch up on the morning news.
When I still hadn’t heard anything by noon, I decided to do something nice for Madelyn. I arranged to have white orchids, her favorite flower, sent to the house. I was in the middle of planning her a getaway spa weekend when Tony called.
“Justin, I’m afraid I have some bad news.” Tony said quietly.
“What’s wrong?” I really had no idea what was going on.
“Nicole quit.”
“She quit? What do you mean she quit?” I asked Tony, who had just informed me of Nicole’s decision.
“She emailed me in the middle of the night. By the time I talked to her this morning, she was back in the states; no explanation at all.”
I knew exactly why she had quit, but I wasn’t going to say anything that might tarnish my reputation.
“So what does this mean for the movie?”
“I called the producers, they think we are too far into the movie to replace her. They want us to drop it. I’m sorry, I know you were looking forward to this.”
“Oh it’s fine. You know it’s been hard for me to be away from my family.”
“That’s what I thought. Have a good trip home. Hopefully we’ll get to work together again.”
As soon as I got off the phone I was booking my flight. I was going to go home and I was going to go see my family.
Madelyn’s POV
By the time I got the kids dropped off at school, I headed over to Paige’s to see how the new parents were doing.
“Hello?” I called as I walked into the unlocked house.
“Shh!” Pattie was the first one to greet me. “I just sent Paige and Noah back to bed. They looked exhausted.” I remembered how Pattie had done the same for Justin and I when we brought Aniston home. “Here, you snuggle her while I start breakfast.”
I gladly agreed and took Olivia from her.
“Hi precious girl.” I whispered to her. She was wide awake, and I had a feeling she had been up for a while. The house was a mess, despite the fact they had only been home for a night. “Are you already controlling the house?” I laughed, carrying her into the kitchen to talk to Pattie.
“I talked to Justin last night.”
“Oh, and how did that go?”
“Well, it started out really bad, but by the end of the conversation I remembered why I fell in love with him.”
“I knew you two would figure it out, even if he’s so far away. Don’t you remember that’s how you two fell in love the first time? You must’ve talked for five hours a night.” I smiled at those memories. I would have to whisper, since my parents had no idea most nights I stayed up until four or five in the morning talking to Justin. Those late night phone calls was our main source of communication for the first several years of our relationship.
