"They're so cute." I laughed, as I turned towards Luke, catching him staring at me. We had been watching Alissa's reaction to Calum asking her to be his girlfriend. "What are you staring at, Mr. Hemmings?" I shut my locker and leaned on it, shifting so that Luke was in front of me. Luke shrugged and laughed, as he pulled me towards him. "Your pupils are dilated, sir. Do you know what that means?" I looked up at Luke and smiled as he leaned into me. I turned away, teasing him as I wrapped one arm around his neck and put the other on his chest.
"I can't say that I do. What does it mean?" He responded, as he moved my hair to have full access to my neck. I pushed back on his chest, slightly and his grip on my waist tightened.
"It means that you see something you desire." I laughed, as I lifted his chin so that we were looking each other in the eye. He leaned in and, this time, I gave in. Our lips locked together and seemed to make time stop.
"Luke, seriously, you're in the hallway." Calum laughed. I swore in that moment, I wanted to punch him in the throat. The sound that came out of Luke made it seem like he read my mind.
"Calum, every now and then, find somewhere else to be." Luke took one hand off my waist but wrapped the other all the way around. At first, his face was accompanied by a smile but, almost instantly, it vanished. I looked around to try to find the cause until I met the eyes of Claire McClay.
"So, you're into her now? Is she, like, your girlfriend?" Claire put her hands on her hips and glared at me. She took a step towards me, which followed with Luke stepping in front of me, in between us. He kept his hands at both sides of me, as if to keep me in place.
"Yes, she is my girlfriend and you better back the hell off." Luke glared at her and I watched as she stumbled to take a step back, obviously surprised at how protective Luke was. She stared at Luke for only a second longer before walking away and going to first period. "You ok?" Luke stared at me, cupping my face in his hands.
"Yea, are you? What the hell was that?" I asked, so confused about what just happened that I felt dizzy. Luke pulled me into him and kissed my forehead, rubbing my back like he was trying to calm me down.
"That was Luke's stalker of three years, and, might I say, she brings a whole new meaning to 'Bitches be crazy'." Calum said, wrapping a protective arm around Alissa and looking in the direction Claire left. The bell rang and I opened my locker to get my stuff.
"We should get to class." I looked at Luke, waiting for him to part ways with me but he just took my books and headed to my first period class.
--
The bell rang, dismissing us from yet another awful Monday. I walked out of class and, almost instantly, Luke was at my side, arm around me and eyes alert. "She's not going to do anything, Luke, or she would have made an implicating gesture, ok? Go get your books, or we're not studying tonight." I grabbed his hand from my waist and pushed him towards his locker as we passed it.
"Ok, ok. I believe you." He laughed, turning to his locker as I kept walking to mine. I struggled with the lock as the books in my hand were slipping. I finally opened my locker and shoved all my books into my locker when j heard a thud come from the other side of the locker door.
"I thought I told you to get your stuff." I laughed as I grabbed my bag and closed my locker door. I stumbled backwards, seeing that it wasn't Luke behind the door.
"That's weird. I don't remember that." Claire said as she took a step towards me, so that she was in front of me. I stepped back and hit the lockers as she kept stepping towards, slowly closing the gap between us. "Luke won't always be there to protect you, Evans, and you know that." She slowly wrapped a skinny hand around my neck. "One day, you'll open your eyes and he won't be the one you'll see." She tightened her grip as I gasped for air. "It might be me," she tightened again, "it might be Stephen," she leaned in until she could whisper in my ear and tightened again as I began to panic, "it might just be both of us." She took a step back and removed her hand from my neck. I dropped to the ground and watched as she walked away. She turned around as she reached the corner and said something I couldn't make out. My consciousness was slowly drifting as I felt a familiar arm wrap around my waist and head, lifting me up.
"Bay? Bay!" Luke yelled. Everything went black. I had lost my consciousness or sanity, maybe both.
Sorry it's been so long guys, I've been slacking off I know. This is a boring chapter but it'll get better I promise. Hope you forgive me: *
