Your snores remind me that you’re still alive

Your eyes unfazed by a fantasy sun

Nail stapled to your blood-lines

Taking on the pain to remind yourself what you’ve done

Dreaming of airplanes, footprint-less snow

And your sadness has reached a rooted plateau

Your feelings may be hardened into the ground

Waking up drenched in your own sweat

Once hidden, they are seldom found

You cannot cower behind books

Because their words do not mimic your own

You cannot sink inside your own skin

And selfishly rot yourself to the bone

Listening with your eyes

You abandon your heart

You’d waive your instinctual flinch

But you somehow forgot about that part

Your blue eyes wearing surprise

Emotion you rent but never own

Selling your conscience to the shadows

Your last words are spoken at the tone

You've reached the end of published parts.
