If this is a dream within a dream

As Edgar Allen Poe himself said

Then waking would only seem surreal

Would it not?

Denial only takes us so far

A Christmas tree in silver lining

Only as beautiful as we allow our minds to believe

If fat was the new thin

If only everybody could win

This dream would be hardly worth creating

If this is a dream within a dream

And I am still lying in bed

Would fireflies roam

Through the waves and sea foam

If their eyesight could only entice

Coke bottles lying somewhat askew

If not yours and just them

We are only generals in the making

We all start alone

Renting emotions we cannot own

Ending up in a box we call (inclined to call) home

If this is a dream within a dream

Why are things always thought and not said

For dreaming is anything, whether mind is not set

Whether her cheeks are not wet

Just living in a normal ideal

The great imperative in life

Whether the time is yet ripe

We succumb to our dreams within a dream

And wake up
