I wear a ruby streak across my neck

My fingers are never dripping dry

Between my heart and yours is

Albeit a tattered and quite worn

Piece of duct tape

To fix your world in all its cruelties

To tape back your heart

Staples are used as a secondary

For extra coverage and strength

The roses tease, wave away courage

Anticipate our cowardly ways with ruby gleams

Drops of dew to wet our tongues and satiate us for the winter

Hope is my frown and that’s the reason why

My fingers are never dripping dry

I wear a ruby streak across my neck

To wear into your blue eyes surprise

As we mock each other with faux pas

Building a city of our lackluster bones and hollow eyes

Even worse is the in-between

Out of sight, out of mind

My body, my face are not glowing as the sun

Bleach my thoughts; strip it down to a glimmer

Or perhaps just a ghostly glow

Burning our flames in eternity

Our immortality proves nothing to you, not me

To my mind and my waterfalls, we collide

My spine reflects the whole of me

My fingers are never dripping dry
