Alex sighed and turned off the TV. There had been no show of the hope in Central City. The Flash hadn't made his normal appearance, yet. She got dressed into a Nike sweatshirt and leggings.
Alex grabbed her phone off of her wooden dresser and texted her friend Mary, "Meet at Jitters to talk about the project?". Their social studies teacher paired them up for a project about Mexico. She considered herself lucky. She ended up with her friend. They were on the same track team. Will we ever stop being friends? Alex thought. Alex shrugged at the thought and sat on her bed.
A couple minutes later, her phone went off. "When?" Mary had replied. "10:00." She answered.
Alex put in her bag some watermelon gum, some pencils and pens, her laptop, and an unused notebook. "Mom, I am going to Jitters. I'm meeting Mary there for the project!" Alex shouted to her mother.
"Okay, Alex!" Her mom shouted back.
Alex stuffed twenty dollars, her house key, and her phone  into her sweatshirt pocket. She slid on some sneakers, ran down the stairs, and out the door. As she ran, she brushed her hair. She dropped the brush before she left the house. Alex walked down the streets and up the roads. Alex smiled with confidence. She remembered her thought from earlier in the morning. Jack Newman, in less than 12 hours, would succeed. He would turn on a partical accelerator and nothing would go wrong. Soon after, Alex passed two middle-aged guys. They started whispering as soon as she walked by. One had really short hair, the other had hair down to his neck. Keeping the sight of the guys in mind, Alex walked in to Jitters. She checked the time on her smartphone. It read 9:20 A.M. Alex looked around Jitters. She sighted the two guys she had seen earlier. Those creeps, she thought to herself, Are they stalkers? She looked at them again and they seemed to be staring at her and whispering. Yes, she answered herself.
