The rest of the day was surprisingly normal for Alex, despite her quarrel with Nick. The only thing that made a major difference was not talking to Mary. It felt like there was something missing. A lost piece of Alex's soul. Like a missing piece of a puzzle. Alex walked out of the school's doors and boarded her bus. Alex sat there looking out the window, wondering whether things with her and Mary would ever change. Mary could be suspicious forever, and she might never find out that Alex is Streak and can run at an impossible speed. That could be fantastic or terrible. Fantastic, her friend would be somewhat protected from harm. Alex could become a famous superhero, and goons could go around looking for Mary because she knows who Streak. On the downside, Mary and Alex may stop being friends because of the secret Alex is keeping. Alex shrugged off the thought. The bus had soon reached Alex's stop. Alex got off and began to walk home. When Alex walked in, she realized that she forgot to grab the mail from the mailbox. She walked back outside, ad felt a shock of pain in her right leg. Something had hit it. All she could feel is pain. It felt cold. Alex, knocked out, gave away. She lied on the ground, limp and helpless.
