Vienna

As I finished packing my bags, I took one more look at the ocean waves that rolled onto the beach. I would miss the Bahamas, but my mother insisted we couldn't stay here any longer. She said she had gotten a new job in America.
She was always getting new jobs.
I was born in Austria. I'm named after the capital city. I got to live there until I was six. When I was five, my cousin Luke came to live with us. He was also Austrian. His parents had been murdered in their sleep. He didn't see them die and doesn't know the murderer. He just woke up one day, went to his parents room, and found their corpses in the bed, bloody and scarred.
A year after that we moved to the Americas. We had been to most of the states and don't stay places a little more than a few months. I have to leave any friends I make and have only had a boyfriend once. His name was Tyler. He lives back in Utah. Majority of the time, Luke and I both have to deal with people tormenting us because of our accents.
Now we were going to Florida.
A voice snapped me out of my daze.
"Vienna," Luke said. "It's time to go. Are your bags packed?" He was standing in my doorway. Luke was tan and muscular. He had blue eyes and brown hair. He managed to get a girlfriend every time we moved, but shirtless workouts on the beach here in the Bahamas had gotten him involved in three different relationships throughout our time here. "What does it look like, Lukas?" I asked, gesturing to my packed bags. "Have you kissed Andrea goodbye yet?" "This isn't the end," He said. "We'll still talk over FaceTime and text each other." "You'll still grow apart," I said. "Remember when you tried to do that with Sierra? She ended up cheating on you a week later. "Andrea isn't Sierra. She wouldn't do that," Luke argued. "We're saying goodbye at the airport."
My mom poked her head through the door. "Hurry up. It's time to go," She said. My mother was strict and enjoyed being on time. I didn't like being late, either, and neither did Luke, so we gathered my bags and put them in the car next to Luke's and my mother's.
We don't have many possessions, and my mother's taken to renting cars and staying in rental houses. Back in Maryland, we even lived in a hotel for a while.
Andrea's mom's car pulled up in our driveway. Looks like Crazy would be riding to the airport with us.
Andrea Garrow had dyed pink hair that was always in French braids. She only wore cropped shirts and too-short shorts. Even though she was dating Luke, I've seen her flirting with other guys before. Also, she's so fake. "Luke!" She squealed, running over to him and hugging him. Andrea's mother waved and drove away. "I'm going to miss you so much," Andrea said to my cousin. "I'll miss you too, babe," Luke replied. I rolled my eyes and dug my headphones out of my backpack. Luke and Andrea climbed in the back seats and I climbed in the front next to Mom. I plugged in my phone, shuffled my playlist of Paramore songs, and turned it up.

I'm sitting in a room
Made up of only big white walls
And in the halls
There are people looking through the window and the door
They know exactly what we're here for
Don't look up, just let them think
There's no place else you'd rather be

I looked out the window. We were rushing past buildings and other cars. I had liked the Bahamas. I had had a best friend named Lisa, who was loud and funny. Whenever one of us got detention, the other would do something bad in the same class so that they could join them. Lisa taught be how to surf and I taught her how to roller blade. She said we'd stay in touch, but so had all my other friends.
I hadn't talked to them in a while.

And it's obvious you're dying, dying
Just living proof that the camera's lying
And oh, oh open wide
Cause this is your night, so smile

I also had had a bit of a crush. His name was Reid. He was tall and kind. He was also a straight A student, so he was there whenever I needed help. He didn't tell a lot of people, but he played guitar and also worked part time at Chili's. He talked to me often, and Lisa said he liked me.
The song I was listening to, Fences, ended and a new one came on.

Can't make my own decisions
Or make any with precision
Well, maybe you should tie me up
So I don't go where you don't want me

We pulled up to the airport shuttle bus place. I knew I should take off my headphones, but I didn't.
I kept listening.
