Once everybody calmed down again, Luke introduced me to his friends. Maxan, the blonde boy, was hugging Claire tight. Augi, the dark haired girl, was looking around with a panicked expression. "Where is he?" She demanded. "Where's Enoch?" Emma sighed and tried to say it nicely.
"Augi, Enoch didn't make it." She sounded sad.
"No," She said. "You're lying."
"She's not lying. Horace was shot, too, as well as Miss Peregrine. Lisa's parents were also killed," I said.
Augi began to cry. Luke tried to put a hand on her shoulder, but she screamed, "Don't touch me!" and stormed off.
I glanced at Bronwyn, who was crying silently at the news. Luke looked at me. "Give me a second, Vee," He whispered. He walked over to Bronwyn and pulled her into his arms, stroking her hair and kissing her forehead.
Well, looks like Luke has yet another girlfriend. I hoped it was forever. He seemed to really like Bronwyn.

. . . .

About an hour later, I told Luke our story and he told me his. Everyone hugged and cried some more, and eventually Augi returned. Her eyes were red rimmed and puffy.
"What's up with her?" I whispered to Millard. "She used to date Enoch. They broke up, but nobody knows why," He replied. I looked into his blue eyes and realized I was holding his hand. Hm. I hadn't noticed.
"We need a plan," Emma announced. "I think we should set the wights on fire."
"It won't be easy," Luke said. "They're hiding something big."
It was silent.
"Well, what a great reunion," I said. "Can't we just enjoy our own selves for once? I've been an angry mess for the past week because I thought Luke here was gone forever. I need a break from the stress. Let's play a game, like truth or dare or something."
"I hate truth or dare," Augi muttered, obviously still upset about Enoch.
"Well, I guess that's a no," Millard murmured. I laughed.
"Be nice."
"Look who's talking."
"Oh my bird," Olive said with a smirk. "Everyone knows you're in love. Just kiss already."
Millard took the advice too seriously. Moments later, his lips were on mine. I kissed him back with everything I had in me. God, he was a good kisser. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he wrapped his around my waist. I pushed one of my hands into his hair and, God, it was so soft...
We kissed until we couldn't kiss anymore. We kissed until we needed air. We kissed like it was the last day of our lives.
When we broke apart, I just stared into his blue eyes, shocked. Did that actually just happen?
I smiled at him.
"You're beautiful when you smile," He whispered.
"I like your smile more," I replied.
I looked around. We had set off a chain. Bronwyn and Luke were making out. Emma and Jacob were kissing, as well as Hugh and Fiona. Maxan was looking at Augi shyly, but didn't make a move. After all, she'd just lost Enoch, who I'm pretty sure had been in love with Horace as well as Augi.
Man, what a love triangle.
Lisa was staring at her feet. I wondered if she was thinking of her ex girlfriend, Jess. Olive and Claire were pointing at couples and talking about ships. I wondered what boats had to do with anything.

. . . .

I slept curled up against Millard, sharing kisses every once in a while. He was pointing to some constellations and talking about them when I heard a bang.
I sat up straight. Everyone else must've heard it, too, because they were looking around as well.
Augi saw them first. She screamed their names.
It was Enoch and Horace, standing in the clearing, alive and well.
