CHAPTER 1
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Layla, the malefic gunner, was walking through Malefia, a city once full of bustling lively people, now ruined down to pieces. Looking at it really churns her heart. She made a promise to be one of this city's protectors. This.. will always make her cry, no matter what the time and place it is.
Look at what has its become. A city that has torn down to what people thought that was indestructible and perfect.
There was no use being here in this city that has nothing left to protect.
She was on her way to go outside of Malefia in order to defeat other evil beings. To protect the innocent ones from being harmed, she told herself to do it no matter what. Just like how her father did so.
Layla finally arrived at the exit.
She looked back at Malefia. This place was once her home. The moment she steps out of this place, it will become nothing to her.
Malefia used to be a peaceful city until the Malefic energy went haywire, causing the people to turn evil. Like, they were being possessed.
Some were tainted with Malefic energy while some weren't and in hiding.
Those who were tainted had the ability to perceive who weren't and killed them. To them, those who weren't touched with malefic energy were deemed as weak and had no hope for life, which is why they were killed so continuously everyday. It was awful.
In the midst of such happenings, Layla's father, somehow, found a way to use Malefic energy for good. It took almost 5 years to make the artillery but it was worth it. Her father created a blaster, a very huge and heavy gun, fueled with Malefic energy.
This was her item from her dad. Just by using it reminds her of him, making her cry a little bit.
Layla shook her head and went back to the present. With a final glance, she turned her head and walked away outside of Malefia's bounds.
She tightly grabbed her bag and her blaster. This city will be nothing more to her now that she isn't in there. Right?
This city.. will...
"Layla look! We've arrived at your favorite skewers place!"
She slowly stopped walking on the dirt path.
"Isn't it your dream to become like them? I'll support you no matter what my daughter."
Her legs going weak, she crouched, putting her hands on her face.
"Shoot it Layla! Shoot it! Don't hesitate!"
Layla cried ever so hard. With no choice, she activated the blaster. The light it emitted was so strong she closed her eyes upon seeing it.
When she opened it, that one huge strike had killed the monsters within the vicinity with one strike, along with her dad.
"Fuck.. FUCK!!!"
She furiously dropped the blaster and pulled her hair. "SHIT!! FUCKING SHIT!!" The anguish she felt was so much. Tears didn't stop. Her heart feeling like it was being squeezed. "GOD DAMN IT!"
Eyes started to sting, she couldn't hold it in anymore. Tears dropped down her face like a river. She didn't have the guts to forget everything, to leave like she didn't live there her whole life.
This will be forever engraved to her. No amount of new memories will replace the pain she has felt being there.
Wiping her tears away, she continued her walk towards a new beginning.
