CHAPTER 24

SPACE

Nana felt so cold.

But somehow and unknowingly, she seemed to be in space. Everything around her was glowing and glamorous. She couldn't help but be speechless because honestly, she couldn't describe how it was to be in space.

Floating was what she was doing. She ignored that and roamed around few of the planets. It's appearance was colorful, every planet was.

'Interesting.' A voice said from afar. A creature with one eye observed what was happening with an instrument.

Her fun ended when everything around her faded to nothingness as a painful sound came out of nowhere. Her eyes almost felt like it was oozing out blood but it wasn't. She closed her eyes and embraced the darkness that she once loved in the past and smiled once again but not a genuine one, it was a smile where one would be creeped out just by looking at it. Her very own arms clashed against each other and her smile grew bigger than it ever was.

That again ended by opening her eyes, seeing her friend that she had recently met in the woods. It was Layla. Her eyes dropped at the sight.

Layla looked so tired and probably hasn't eaten anything. Was she in there for how many days now? Nana couldn't help but fly near her. Her eyes that once had brightness of a child, now gone and itself became dull. Her hair that once was a reflection of sunshine is now blood red and messy.

She just wants to hug her badly.

Nana tried going back to her body but it wouldn't work. Only her ghost state would move, not the physical body. Her annoyance was starting to get in her head.

'Nnhgh.'

The snap of a finger was heard and it was an alien space creature, aka Zhask. Nana felt angry at him for imprisoning Layla like that. Layla looked at Zhask with those empty eyes and Nana's heart felt like it was breaking into pieces. All she can do right now is watch, fly transparently and and feel some damn emotions.

What was that word again?

Ah yes. Useless.

That peculiar word rises up everytime one can't do anything to help another. So popular right? One is useless yet the word itself is so useful to wield in describing that specific person.

And that was when she felt it. Her small fragile fingers twitched, physically. Her wounds closed up without any of the two people noticing her. Her mouth curved and hope was rising in her.

Her spirit self faded and she couldn't help but feel overjoyed. Everything was black again. She wanted to open her eyes and hug the fuck out of Layla and tell her that everything is going to be okay. She was until he spoke.

"Don't worry Layla. You'll become one of us...soon."

Her thoughts ran when he said that. Layla was going to be with them? Like she would let that happen!

"Please do it sooner." Layla said.

Huh? Wait why?!

"I don't want to live anymore. I'm already useless."

Useless??? Why is that word so famous? Is that what everybody feels now?

Zhask chuckled and left, leaving the door open a little bit. He left it open all the time though, thinking that she won't escape just because she's in a cage.

Layla frowned sadly. She looked at her gun that was outside the cage and her tears poured out a little bit. Maybe she'll be with her dad soon?

Her sad and depressing thought was ruined by a soft and cuddly hug. Her eyes widened at the sight of pink hair around her shoulder. She turned her back and that was what made her cry now. Nana's alive.

"Oh..my..god..." Layla sobbed between her words. Both of them hugged each other like there was no end of it. Nana broke the hug and posed in front of her.

"The pink and ferocious furry is back baby!"
