CHAPTER 13

BOTH OF THEM

Ruby found herself on a bed. She stood up, not remembering on what happend to her. It finally came to her and confused on how she got home. When she got out of her bedroom, she saw Alucard sitting on one of the chairs in the living room.

Ruby tapped his shoulder and gave a questioning look. Alucard pointed his head to a man behind Ruby. Ruby turned around and saw her... Well... 'Friend'. At that she could imagine that Alucard pretty much asked for help and Roger heard him.

"So uhh... What happend to me?" Ruby asked and Roger went outside to leave the both of them alone.

"You fell unconscious." Alucard said to her. Ruby somehow guessed it? She was tired but her body wanted to fight more at that time. "Also who is that man? He looks so nerve-racking."

"That man you are describing as 'nerve-racking' is my friend who I sometimes call as dad but most of the time i call him Roger." Ruby said. Alucard nodded in response. He looked around Roger and Ruby's house. It was simple yet beautiful. The wood of the house was good and he wanted to know what kind of wood it was but he is too scared.. And shy?

Anyway, he looked under the small table and saw a neagic. He widened his eyes and grabbed it. Old memories of his father popped up and smiled sadly.

"Roger still keeps these kind of stuff?" He asked. Ruby looked at him then at his hand.

"Yeah. He likes keeping his really old stuff because he said that old is better than new." Ruby said and looked like she didn't agree to what Roger says to her everyday.

"Old is better."

Ruby stared at him in surprise, making her wonder why he agrees with Roger. Just as she was about to ask Roger came in.

"Alright kids, you better go outside. I'm going to pack up and lock this house." He said as he started to pack his important things to his small bag.

"Why?" Ruby asked.

"Well, the chiefs in the wasteland called me for their help since their trusty cowboy left." Roger said as he put on his hat.

"Can I come?" Ruby asked him with that cute eye of hers. He was used to Ruby's cuteness so all he did was pat her and said..

"No you cannot."

"What! What the heckie Roger!" Ruby wanted to go badly because she has not seen that dirty and filthy land for how many years.

"Its literally obvious why i wouldn't want you to go. You have to be with the visitor because i'll invite him when it is dinner time. Make sure he won't go." Roger said and put on a formal clothing. He looked like a gentleman but his cigar is making him look intimidating. She couldn't deny that.

"Well, I gotta go now." Roger grabbed his back pack but Alu stopped him.

"Excuse me Sir, I didn't get to introduce myself. My name is Alucard Dranayfe. It is nice to meet you." Alucard dropped a sweat since he too was a little bit scared by Roger's appearance.

"That introduction was really late but nice meeting you, demon hunter." Roger said. Alucard was curious how he knew he was a demon hunter. He has a demon arm so he's supposed to only call him a demon yet he did not.

Roger pushed the two kids outside the house and locked it. "You two can roam around places as long as you two come home when the sun is about to set." Roger ordered them and left.

"Awwww, he didn't say goodbye!" Ruby complained and pulled her hair. Alucard just blankly stared at her. He grabbed his sword that was resting beside the house the whole time.

"Ruby, do you have any thing that can lead us back home? I'm going to go to random places and I might get lost."

Ruby thought about it for awhile and realized the thinga thing that Roger gave her a few weeks ago. She grabbed it from her pocket and it was.... A thing.

"Roger told me that if I place this small thing on the house, the other thing will give direction to where the.. Uh... Thing is!"

Alucard awed. He never saw something like this before.

"How'd he get it?" Alu asked.

"He said he got it from a magical place. He wouldn't tell me the exact location though."

Alucard started to walk away from her and Ruby panicked.

"W-Wait! I still have to do the thingy!"

"Then hurry it up." Alu smiled teasingly and it made Ruby blush a little bit but started to focus of her thingy.

"Stupid Alu..."
