CHAPTER 3

MEMORIES OF A LOVED ONE

Layla helped Clint and left him. The more they interacted, the more she felt like Clint was pointing into something. Like... Romance. And no way she was going to let it go far to that, so she had to leave him with a goodbye.

Being in love would be too tiring and time consuming.

Love now means nothing to her, for the reason she has felt that has disappeared. What was the point anymore?

She dropped a tear because of her little memory of her dad.

- FLASHBACK -

A small Layla played with her favorite teddy bear and the oversized goggles that her father gave her.

Layla's dad was great at inventing things, making them not rich but not poor. Both of them lived happily.

Her dad came in the house looking tired as ever. She got worried and hugged him tightly, making her dad smile and pat her head.

"Awe you okay dada?" Layla asked as he looked up to him.

"Yes dear, I'm alright." He said with a tired smile.

She let go of him and sat on the couch, motioning him to sit beside her. Her dad nodded, following her.

"Dada, I have a question." Layla asked so cutely.

"What is it sweetie?"

"What does love mean?" She asked and held a story book. "It says at the end of this stowy."

The cute baby patootie pointed at the word LOVE.

"Hmmm.. Let's say that love means you care for someone deeply, you want that person to be always safe and be by your side." He said, contemplating a bit with what he said but satisfied nonetheless.

Layla brightened her smile and said something out loud.

"Then I wav you!" She said and kissed his cheek then hugged him.

"We'll be like this story! We'll live happily ever after!"

His dad hugged her back with a sad smile.

And that's where they both thought wrong.

- FLASHBACK END -

Layla cried after that little memory. She still misses her dad so bad to this day. The feeling when she lost him was so vivid.

Deep down, she wanted to love someone. But she's too afraid to lose someone she cares about.

Not again.

Please.

The day carries on with a heavy heart.
