Prologue
GRACE'S POV
His lips just began to touch mine when my phone began to ring. Seriously? I haven't kissed a guy in 4 years and this phone call has to happen now?
Ugh. I rested my forehead on his and gave him an apologetic look. "I'm so sorry," I whispered. He gave me a weak smile, obviously a little disappointed. I took the phone out of my pocket and looked at the screen. It was an unknown number.
"Hello?" I asked agitated. This better be an damn important phone call.
James grabbed my hand and started twiddling with my fingers. Is someone prank calling me? If they are, it's really not funny. He started to kiss my hand and his lips slowly made their way up my arm. He's trying to seduce me! Well it's working. I want to just make out with him already, not to sound desperate or anything, but I miss the feel of someone's lips touching mine. I ached for it.
His lips reached my shoulder and gently kissed it, moving to my collar bone and slowly up my neck. Alright, I can't take this anymore. If someone doesn't answer me soon...
"Hello?!" I said again, but this time through clenched teeth. Is anyone actually on the other line?
James had made it to the base of my chin and I had goosebumps covering my skin in an instant.
Someone. Answer. Already.
He made me laugh a little bit because, like the five year old I am, I'm still ticklish. I bit my lip, trying to hold it in. Okay that's it. I'm hanging up-
"Stay away from him. He's no good for you and you don't deserve him," spat the other line.
"What? Who is this?" I asked a little too loudly.
"I'm watching you. I can see you right now. You're on the beach with him. He's kissing your neck." I could hear the person smirking from wherever they were.
The voice continued, "Don't tell anyone you got this call or else someone might have a little injury coming around the corner. Tonight is the last night you will have with him. If I see you with him again, he's gonna get hurt. And trust me when I say hurt. You wouldn't want anything to happen to your little boyfriend, now would you? I think not. Say your goodbyes and break things off. Or I will." With that the line went dead.
James pulled back to look at me. "Are you okay? You've got goosebumps... you look like you've just seen a ghost! Who was that on the phone?" He tucked my hair behind my ear.
Quick! Lie, Grace! "Uh... It was just a wrong number, that's all. I'm fine! Sorry, does it feel cold to you because it feels really cold to me and-" I started talking too fast, to the point where I couldn't even understand myself.
"Whoa, slow down. Take a breather. It's super hot actually... Maybe it's just me, but... um, we are in Florida. It's usually pretty warm down here." He chuckled, grazing his hand over my cheek.
His touch made me forget about everything for a minute. "I'm fine, really. Nothing to worry about," I said reassuringly and gave a weak smile.
What the hell am I freaking out about? It was probably just Bridget and Nicolette messing with me...
I looked back at James and smiled. "Now where were we?"
