Many years later, in school, I found out that dream catchers were not originally a Pueblo tradition. Long, long ago a great Spider Spirit had actually given "dream catchers" to the Chippewa, not to the Pueblo, nor the Navajo, nor the Apache. I'm sure it was nothing personal. Maybe the Chippewa were more prone to bad dreams. Or maybe the Spider Spirit felt bad for the Chippewa, who lived around what is now Wisconsin. I've heard it's very cold up there, and not a whole lot happens except cheese.
The Pueblo were more fortunate, I guess, enjoying better dreams, and living in sunnier places like what is now New Mexico. I don't know what's so fortunate about New Mexico, but as we've observed, a lot of people seem to think it's got something going for it.
