After hanging my thank-you note, I wrote a nice little poem on the back of my notice from the power company. I called the poem "Ode to Light." I mailed the poem to the power company in the No Postage Necessary return envelope they had so kindly sent me. Just so there would be no confusion, I attached a cover letter:
Dear Electric Company,
I was going to enclose a haiku for payment. But it seems I've written a sonnet.
Oh, well. I guess you can just keep the change.
