With no other relatives or documents, the orphan, Tachibana Yuuki, was forced to live on her own. No money, no job. -- Nothing
Will there be any hope for her, to get a normal life?
After reuning with my grandfather, my parents left me, after planning how to get rid of me. In the end, they chose the easiest way; to run away. But I'm not sad. The opposite- I'm relieved. All the hits in my face ad stomach, the broken plates and cups, and their hatred towards me, everything's over now. Because I'm not alone. My grandfather promised me to never leave me alone. I'm on my way to the hospital. I'm coming. Grandfather ... I arrived at the hospital. I came to get used to the smell, I actually like it now. As I walked, I notice the doctors and nurses looking at me worried. What's wrong? Usually they greet me, since they already know my face. I shouldn't worry about that, I have to speak with grandpa... Suddenly the nurse who lead me to grandpa on my first day. Her name is Lily. Her expression is very grave, nothing like her usual bright smile. "Oh..hello. I came to see my grandpa again." I bowed and greeted her. Her expression gets only worse, with every word I said. Did I do something wrong...? She crouches down to get the same height as me. She starts to speak up slowly. "Yuuki... It's good you came back again." I nod, and want to opeb the door to my grandpa. She quickly stopped me though. "W-wait!" I stopped in my tracks, and she sighs. "Yuuki, before you're going to that room... Do you know in what kind of state Kunihiko is...?" I frowned. "What do you say..? Is he hungry, or something...?" I joke around to ease the mood, but her expression is dead serious.
I furrow my brows. "What happened with grandpa?" She avoids her gaze, obviously trying to hold back her tears. I tremble, and asked again. "Lily. What happened to my grandpa?" My voice is trembling, and my voice is very low. I know I'm only six years old, but my tone is cold as eyes. It's because of my parents, who were filling me and my heart only with hatred. She looks at me again, takingpne deep breath. I can see, she's hesitating and choosing her words very carefully.
"I'm very sorry, but this will be the last time you will see your grandfather again."
....Huh...?
She looks at me, a single tear i s falling from her eyes. She opens her mouth again. "Yuuki, your grandfather is on final stage, and... and is going to die." 'Die'. This word made me steps backwards, clenching my chest. I stumble and fell down. Doctors are coming this way, but I supported myself, and stood up. It's a dream...yeah, right. Only a dream. I was being left alone, just yesterday, so it's natural... Dream, an awful one too. "Just a dream..right...?" Everybody except Lily looked surprised by my words. Lily took my hands in her and squeezed them. She says nothing, she's just shaking her head. That's what makes me fall backwards. I don't believe it. With all the glances they show me, my eyes completely list their shine, my body trembles uncontrollably. No...I don't want to believe this. Suddenly a doctor exits the room of my grandfather. Lily stood up, and the doctor whispers in her ear. She nods and looks back at me. "Yuuki... go see your grandfather." One of the doctors holds out a hand, but I stood up for myself. "...." I bit my lips, holding back my tears, and go inside grandpa's room.
There he lies. The lights are out. And that beeping machine ticks very slowly.
He weakly turns his head to look at me. He puts up a weak smile. He speaks up. Also weakly. "Yuuki...did you come..to see me..? That's very nice...of you." Scared to break out in tears, I try to act as cheerful as I can. "G-grandpa..! How are you..?" I put on a bright smile, but my lips are shaking very hard. He suddenly looks very serious. "Yuuki...could you come a little closer..?" I tense up, almost running to his bed and gripping his hand. "Yuuki...I'm sorry. I can't keep my promise, about staying by your side." I shook my head, my eyes filling with tears "It's okay, it's oka..y. Don't worr y about it, let's talk about something..else." I let go of his hand, and walked to the window to open the curtains. And to hide my teary eyes. He watches me without saying a word. "Look...! The weather is beautiful, right?" He looks at me, and says. "You look like a beautiful painting. I wish I could see it forever..." I avoid his gaze by looking out the window. "You can. Grandfather, of course you can..always." He smiles happily and looks at a little casket. "Yuuki... Please open that little bx." I dindn't hesitate for a second and opened it. Inside is a beautiful, precious looking chain. "It's beautiful..." I spoke my true feelings. He looks relieved and says. "It belonged to your grandmother. She died long ago, and now I can finally meet her again.." I looked at him shocked. "Grandpa...I need you too, you know...?" I smile sadly at him. He smiles back. "I want you to give this necklace to you. Why do you not put it on...?" My heart aches, but I put this necklace on. He smiled when he sees me and peacefully closes his eyes. "That chain reminds me of her. And she reminds me of you." I remain silent and walk towards the window again. The pandant tinkles at my neck. "Oh..although I have my eyes closed, I know where you are.." He laughs and tells something unexpected. "Yuuki... Even if the whole world seems to be against you...there's still one person who loves you very much..... Remeber these words..." I looked surprised out of the window, but quickly said. "I..! I will....!" When I said that, I could hear him sobbing. Shocked I freezed up. "I-I'm...sorry..!" He sobbed. "Huh?" I couldn't utter a word. "I'm so...sorry..for leaving you alone... I'm sorry!" Between sobs, he apologized to me. I wanted to cry, but remained calm. "Don't, grandpa."
....
"Let's talk about something else. But I'm stupid, so I can't think of something to say."
....
"You have to talk, grandpa."
....
"Hey, grandpa. Let me hear your voice, grandpa."
....
Don't go, grandfather...
Doctors were watching this scene, saying nothing, only that I should go, and I should come back in five days with my parents.
I'm sitting in my dark, thinking of my grandfather.
"Yuuki... Even if the whole world seems to be against you...there's still one person who loves you very much..... Remeber these words..."
"...*sob*..."
