CHAPTER TWENTY

Lara's

It's been a week since we got home, and I can say it went well. Kuya always make time for us. He made sure that we enjoy every single day that we're here. We had picnick, we visited the farm. We went horseback riding at the ranch and if he's at the office, Bryan and I would surprise him and brought him food or ask him out to have lunch.

My relationship with Dominic went smoothly. We never fail to text, call or videochat each other every passing day.

I've met some important people in his life too. Just like the other day, he called me on FaceTime then suddenly his mom arrived. Right there and then he introduced me to his mother. Atty. Anita Alvarez was so nice and kind. Even tho I only met her at videochat she never fail to amaze me with her courteousness. And the way she talks, it's so gracefull. She was a nice woman. That's why Dominic grew up into a fine man.

I also met his childhood friends, Rona and Allan. His yaya nanang Lydia. They were all nice to me. They treated me as if they knew me for a long time too.

Today, we're expecting dad's arrival. Today he's scheduled to come home. We wanted to take dad out for a dinner, but kuya suggested na sa bahay nalang. Pagod daw kasi si dad for sure paguwi nun. Kaya hindi rin daw iyon papayag. Kaya heto kami ngayon, abala sa paghahanda Ng hapunan. Bryan and I cooked the food and kuya promised he'll be home on time for dinner. He wanted to help us, but he can't. He had some important stuff left at the office that he needs to finish.

"Kuya,... Finally you're home!" I heard Bryan.

"Hi kuya! Good evening." I stood up to where I was sitting and kiss kuya Larry on the cheek.

"Kuya, tumawag na ba si dad sayo? Anong Oras daw sya eksaktong darating?" Usisa ni Bryan.

Kuya glances at his watch before answering Bryan's question. "Hindi pa Bry eh, pero maya-maya lang siguro andito narin yun." He smiled at us. "I'll go change my clothes in a bit. I'll be right back." He kissed me on the forehead and tapped Bryan's shoulder.

We sat at the dinning table and waited until kuya came down. He went to us and he looked at me for a while. And right there and then I knew there's a problem.

"Well,.... I think we should eat now." He said still with a smile on his face.

"What?." Bryan snapped."I thought we're waiting for dad to come home.?"

"He just called. He can't come home tonight. He's still in New York. He have to check the place he's planing to buy for his new bussiness."

I saw how Bryan got upset upon hearing what kuya said. I turns head to kuya Larry and he was staring at me too.

Nanay Bebeth was there too and I can see the sadness in her while looking at Bryan who's now staring at his plate.

I pity my brother too. If only I could take every hurt that he feel.

"It's okey, dad didn't know we prepared for him after all. We wanted to surprise him. Bawi nalang tayo pag nandito na sya."I tried to sound happy. "Diba Bry.?"

"Yeah." He answered.

"For now, let's eat nalang. Ubusin natin lahat to. Kuya, ikaw dapat imu is Ng mga ito, ikaw kasi ang hindi tumulong." I joked.

"What? Oh com'on! Isipin ko palang nasusuka na ako sa dami neto." Kuya jokingly complain.

"Nanay, samahan nyo nalang kami dito. Tawag in nyo na si Tatay at ang iba pa, para mas masaya." Ay ako Kay nanay Bebeth.

"Nako nako, wag mo na kaming intindihin anak. Kumain nalang kayo dyan."

"Nay, gusto mo bang magkandaugaga na kami sa pagkain neto?" Kuya Larry said."Tara na po, Sabayang nyo na kami dito."

Wala narin nagawa si nanay Bebeth kundi ang tawag in ang iba pa naming mga kasamahan at sabay-sabay na kaming kumain. Bahagyang na lipat ang atensyon ni Bryan sa mga kasamahan namin na tuwang- tuwa sa nagaganap na kainan. Nausap-usap kami na para bang magkakaibigan at hindi bilang mga amo nila.

Pagkatapos nang masayang kainan ay nagsiakyatan na kami sa among mga silid. Gusto pa sana naming tumulong sa pagligpit, ngunit hindi na kami pinayagan ni nanay. Magpahinga na saw kami at sila na ang bahala doon. Nagpaalam kamu sa kanila at nagpasalamat naman sila sa amin.

Pagka akyat ko nang kwarto ay chineck ko ang phone ko Kung May mensahe ba doon. Kanina pang umaga nang huli akong itxt ni Dominic. Dapat ay tumawag na ito kaninang pananghalian. Siguro ay naging abala ito sa Kung anu man ay hindi ko alam.

I put back my phone at the bedside table and went to the bathroom to have a nice cold shower, before going to bed.

After putting my pajamas on I slip in my bed and took my phone again. Still no message from him. I decided to call Dominic to have a small talk before going to bed. Asked him about his day and say goodnight. But his phone was off, it was the operator who answered my call.

"Baka naman na lowbat. I wonder what his doing to keep him busy and he forgot about me. Baka importante. Nautusan siguro nang daddy nya." I said as I talked to my self.

Nag kibot balikat na lamang ako at nagpasyang itxt nalang ito.

Maybe he'll call me once he receives the message.

To: MINE

"Hi mine, how was your day? I guess you're so busy you forgot to text or call me, but it's okey, I understand.

Btw mine, my dad didn't make it to be home tonight. Bryan was so disappointed. He was the most excited among us three.

We tried to cheer him up. Good thing his attention was diverted.

Well, I just want to say good night. And i love you and I miss you!
