Breaking down

“St. Louis, here we come! YAY!” Matt and Devo were running around the bus like complete idiots. Literally idiots. They knew how crazy the show was last night in Kansas City, and they knew I hadn’t gone to bed till at least one a.m. At this point, I was ready to knock them both out with Matt’s guitar.

Finally, we were going home though. Last night’s show was the last of the I Want Crazy tour, and we were making our way through Missouri to get home. I wasn’t sure why Matt and Devo were freaking out about St. Louis, though.

I noticed Hunter was no longer lying next to me when I roll over and he wasn’t there. They must have woken him up as well. I slowly sit up, and my hair immediately falls in my face, seeming oddly curly. My doctor had told me that the hormones of being pregnant would do that, which was slightly strange. But hey, there’s nothing I can do about it, so yay! Curly hair!

My thoughts were stirred when I see Hunter step in front of my bunk, smiling at me. “Good morning beautiful.” He smiles at me.

I groan. “I feel dead.” I say in complete seriousness, but he laughs, as if I were joking.

“We’re almost in St. Louis.” He says, getting over his somewhat weird laughing fit.

I nod my head, my feet finding the floor as I stand up in front of him, then stretch. “Sounds good.” A yawn rolls out of my mouth. “But why are Matt and Devo going crazy about it?” I asked him, curiosity getting the best of me.

“Food.” He says simply, and then looks off into the distance, as if dreaming of it.

I start snapping my fingers in front of his face, giggling. “Don’t drool now, Hayes.” I say with a small smile.

He starts laughing as well when I pull him from his thoughts. “Sorry, I’ve been up since six and I’m starving.” He says to me.

“What time is it?” I asked, knowing he couldn’t possibly be that hungry since it wasn’t too late.

“One in the afternoon.”

I stare for a moment, and then start to rub my belly slowly. “Oh.” I mumble, causing him to laugh.

We both walk out of the bunk area, seeing Sam and Devo watching a movie on a laptop, Steve was probably still sleeping, and Matt was messing with a guitar. He was probably tuning it, since he didn’t tune it yesterday after the show. I flop myself down on a sofa, Hunter seating himself next to me, and look out the window. We must have been all the way in the right lane, since I see three other lanes next to us, with cars ever so slowly passing us.

“When are we going to be in St. Louis?” Sam whines.

“Right, about, now I thi-”

Hunter was caught off when the sound of high pitch screeching was heard. In the slight panic, the bus stops abruptly and things began to fall out of the cabinets in the mini kitchen. Devo had attempted to stand in the middle of all of it, and the next thing I know he had face planted in the floor, and the bus was then still.
