A beautiful accident

I’m honestly happy to be home.” Hunter says softly, reaching over to the passenger seat to hold my hand.

I smile, letting his thumb stroke the top of my hand. “I am too.” I yawned, bringing my free hand up to stifle it.

Finally tour was over, and Hunter and I would be home at last. I was tired beyond words. Sleeping on those horrible bunks literally killed my back, and I was practically dreaming of drifting off to sleep in my own bed, with Hunter’s arms around me safely. I grinned, closing my eyes to just imagine the peace.

“What’s got you all smiley?” Hunter asks, pulling into our parking space.

I scan my eyes over our rather small, yet comfortable apartment. “Home.” I whisper, unbuckling myself.

Hunter, being to gentleman he is, told me that once we got inside he would go back out for our luggage. I wondered why he couldn’t just get it now, since it was just two suitcases, but decided to just go with whatever he thought was right. We walk to the door, hand in hand, and he unlocks it, letting it swing open to reveal our dark, lifeless home.

But it was still home.

As I slowly walked in, my hands resting against my baby bump, I get this strange feeling, like we weren’t alone. I immediately was hoping it was Charlie I was sensing, since I missed her like crazy, but was mistaken when the lights flip on and people jump out from behind the sofa, shouting ‘Welcome Home’

The first thing I see is Tom, then mom, then Markus, then the whole entire family. Jack, Ivy, Maria, Levi, baby Evan, everyone. I felt tears pouring from my eyes from being overwhelmed with sudden happiness, holding a hand to my mouth. I look over at Hunter to see him smirking, and then point that same hand at him. “Did you know about this?” I asked.

He nods, and then wraps his arms around me for a hug, even though my baby bump was kind of in the way. “I love you Z, I knew you missed them.” His breath tickles my neck as he whispers in my ear.

I pull back and give him a quick kiss on the lips before turning to my family and friends. Tom was the first one to greet me with a hug, and I let happy tears roll down my cheeks as I hug him back. “Welcome home, baby.” He says, pressing a firm kiss to the top of my head since he was around five inches taller than me.

Next to tackle me was the twins, who hugged me from each side, each planting kisses on the top of my head, while talking about how their nephew was going to look just like them. I gave each and every one of them a hug, all the women cooing over how cute the baby was going to be. I blush the entire time, especially when my mom, Lynnette and Mama all start debating about what he/she was going to look like. Mom said SHE was going to look like Hunter, while Lynnette argued that HE was going to look like me. Mama jumped in, insisting that whatever gender it was going to be, it would look like her. I laughed, and then blushed even harder.

I see Timmy and Caroline in the mess of people that was my family, and was overjoyed as I wrap the two brunette’s up in my arms. It felt like it had been forever since I gave them hugs. Sure enough Tim had sprung up like a weed and now stood three inches taller than me. I definitely felt short, now.

Everyone then scurried over to Hunter, insisting that he told them how tour was. Everyone except for Trevor who sat on the sofa, almost glaring at me. I tried to act as if he weren’t upset with me for some unknown reason, and held my hands out to him. “Hug for your baby sister?” I asked.

He stands up slowly and I immediately felt small under his weird look. I never understood why he so easily got bad feelings towards people, but I smile when he wraps his arms around me for an embrace. “Not so much a baby sister anymore.” He chuckles in his usual low voice.
