It was a ritual. Ever since Jughead had first moved into your house, it was something you both did everyday. And as Jughead stumbled out of bed, he could picture the red coffee mug that you would've placed under the spout on the coffee maker, just for him. But as Jughead approached the kitchen, you weren't standing there, across the kitchen with your thighs against the counter. You were fumbling with the coffee machine, an angered look on your face.
"Goddammit." You muttered, slamming the lid back onto the Keurig. Jughead walked over to you slowly, placing his hand on your back.
"What's up, babe?" He asked, glancing at the coffee machine himself.
"The stupid thing broke." You muttered, leaning into Jughead.
"Do we have time to go pick up some coffee?" He asked, calming you as he pressed a kiss to your temple.
"I don't know. We only have twenty minutes until school starts, and we'd have to walk." You groaned. Jughead nodded.
"I'm sure we can last one day, yeah?" He assured you, and you sighed.
"I guess." You muttered, pulling out of his grasp and heading upstairs. Jughead sighed, shaking his head at your inability to function without caffeine.
"I'll take you to pop's later, yeah?" He yelled after you, and he barely heard you agree. He pulled his shoes on, grabbing his backpack. He leaned against the door until you came down, and he grinned at you. Even in your everyday jeans and a worn out t-shirt, you were the most attractive person he had ever seen.
"C'mon." He gripped your hand and pulled you out the door, beginning the journey to the school.
Halfway through second block, Jughead began to feel incredibly tired. He wanted to roll his eyes at himself, there's no way that he could only stay awake for two hours without coffee. He decided to text you and see how you were doing, but his phone was already blowing up.
Jug. I'm so tired.
I think I'm hallucinating???
JUGHEAD JONES!!!!
I need coffee. And soon.
I've been yelled at for sleeping like eight times!
FORSYTHE PENDLETON JONES THE THIRD!!!
Am I alone in this struggle?
He had to hold back his laughter, but you were being dramatic. He typed his response, hitting send before the teacher noticed his phone.
You're fine, (y/n). I promise we can skip next period and get some caffeine xx
His phone buzzed with a response right away.
You better keep that promise.
He rolled his eyes, of course he would keep that promise, as he desperately needed coffee too.
After what felt like hours, the period was finally over. Jughead almost sprinted to the front of the school, seeing you leaning against the building. You said nothing, grabbing his hand and dragging him towards Pop's.
It wasn't hard to find a booth, and the two of you ordered the strongest coffees you could.
"This is pathetic." You moaned, throwing your head back. Jughead chuckled, rubbing his thumb along the back of your hand.
"A little." He admitted, his face blushing. You smiled as you saw the waiter coming over with the coffee, thanking him quickly. You brought the cup up to your lips, smiling. Jughead stared at you, wondering how he got so lucky. He took a sip of his own, sighing in satisfaction.
"Much better."
