Chapter Eleven
"Wreck"
Jimin shouldn't have done what he did but he refused to regret it.
He walked down the corridor, ignoring the curious stares aimed his way. It had been a week since he last saw Taehyung. A full week without a single word between them.
And it hurt more than he cared to admit.
He missed Taehyung badly. That was the truth he kept circling back to. He missed his soothing voice, the way Taehyung's large hand swallowed his own, warm and steady. He missed the quiet reassurances, the murmured comforts that brushed his worries away like they were nothing.
Above all, he missed him.
"Jimin."
He sighed, pressing his lips together before turning toward the voice. His brows lifted slightly, already bracing himself.
Jungkook stood there, expression carefully blank as he held out a notebook. "You left this on your desk earlier," he said evenly. "We had an assignment. I figured you might need it."
Jimin nodded, unable to meet his eyes. After everything that happened, he couldn't not without unraveling.
"Thanks," he murmured, reaching out. Jungkook handed it over without hesitation.
"That's..." Jungkook paused, lips parting as if he meant to say more. Then he stopped himself. "...That's all."
Jimin exhaled quietly. Good. He didn't want questions. He didn't want explanations not when his thoughts were still too unstable to trust. "Okay." He turned and walked away.
He knew Jungkook lingered for a moment before heading in the opposite direction. And maybe that was for the best. Crossing paths again would only make things worse for two people who couldn't even decide what they wanted anymore.
Jimin had thought he knew himself. Apparently, he didn't.
Still, Jungkook's reaction lingered in his mind. The way he'd looked at him relieved, almost happy. No matter how hard Jimin tried to forget it, he couldn't.
Because that was the look he'd once wished for. The look he'd wanted every time he came home.
Despite everything, Jungkook still had a place in his heart. He always would.
After all, Jungkook had been his first love.
His heartbeat stuttered when he spotted Taehyung approaching.
Jimin stopped short, eyes widening. Panic flared instantly. Taehyung didn't know about Jungkook, about that night. And the memory of how Jimin had shown up at Taehyung's apartment, raw and desperate, still made heat crawl up his neck.
He'd practically offered himself, exposed every fragile piece of himself he usually kept hidden.
He wasn't ready to face him.
Not now. Not now.
"Baby," Taehyung said easily, wearing that familiar smile. "I heard you changed your schedule."
Jimin stared. Taehyung was smiling.
Why was he smiling?
Had they not argued? Had Taehyung forgotten entirely—or worse, had it meant nothing to him?
Jimin blinked in confusion before gathering himself and nodding in confirmation. Taehyung hummed, "But why? History is the only class we have together. Don't you want to be with me?" Taehyung still had a smile across his face but his voice had a serious tone.
