The Exception

Chapter 12

After I finished talking to my mom I really had nothing to do so Nadya agreed to me taking Zion out for some clothes. I had a general idea of what kids liked based on the fact that I had so many nephews and nieces. Nadya seemed a bit shocked by how good I was with her son but he was my lil man. When we passed by a Best Buy I had to go in and check on the album.

My homeboys had come through so we were rolling almost 20 deep and the mall was already going crazy. For some reason mad people was going after both Carter and Deuce. Like they weren't doing anything major music wise but Deuce kept on claiming that it was from all the Vine videos.

So by the time that we came through to Best Buy the crowd was already growing bigger and bigger. I knew that mall security would be after us in a minute so we had to be in and out. Unfortunately Nadya proved to be a slow shopper and she was just grazing through the aisles looking at all these different products. Zion on the other hand was trying to find my album and he went running through the aisles trying to find it. When we came to my shelf the racks were empty and the guy said that they had run out of any in the stock room.

After Best Buy I had to take lil man to get some sneakers. Nadya by this time had been roaming through Victoria Secret and I gave her one of my cards. Hopefully she would have gotten some good stuff to show me later. As we were walking around the shop I told Zion to pick any shoes that he liked and homeboy had some nice taste. We ended up getting a matching pair of these Air Jordans and he actually had me excited about wearing the shoes.

By the time it was 2 everyone was tired and ready to go and eat. Then I get another call from my mom. This time I'm not hearing all the words but I know that it can't be good. Cater had already purchased some tickets so I had to get a quick bite to eat and then head back home. Honesty I loved my family but they sure knew how to make me go crazy.

When I finally pulled up into the house I didn't know what was going on. No one had been picking up their phone and that pissed me off at times. So when we finally came through I was shocked to see what was going on. My sister Kia had been watching my two oldest brothers children because one was in the army and the other one was in jail. Kia had been dating this dude named Mack and he was trouble. I knew some people that hung out with him and they all said that he was a complicated dude. From the moment that he had been with Kia it was like nonstop drama. I had no business telling her who she should and shouldn't date but my mom was the one who was losing the most out of this.

In the beginning Kia said that she wanted to raise the kids in Atlanta and I was cool with that. Then Mack was talking about how he had business in Philly and how that would be too much traveling. My mom didn't want the kids in Philly so she had them come and stay with her in Maryland for the summer. The kids got so attached to grandma that Kia decided to move to Maryland. So Mack came with her but he was always on her back about it. Then I had him living in the house and he didn't get along with all the kids or my mom which annoyed me. Overall the situation wasn't ideal but their were really no other alternatives.

So when I walked through the door the first person that I saw was my younger sister diamond. She immediately pulled me to the side office so that we could talk.

Me, "Diamond what the fuck is going on? like I just got some random phone call from mom and here I am. What the fuck is going on with Mack and Kia, it's like non stop drama with those two"

Diamond, "I know. I've been telling Kia to break up with him but she's afraid. Like he knows that after the baby comes she's going to have to make some changes and he's one of them. Like she has all these kids running around and he's on them like non stop"

Me, "okay so what's going on? where's mommy at?"

Diamond, "well she's in the hospital but they don't want anyone coming to see her yet. Like she's still in surgery and I don't want the kids to get scared"

Me, "why is Mommy in the hospital? what the fuck happened? I was just talking to her earlier in the day"

Diamond, "well recently she's been with the kids more and more and she already has the high blood pressure. She's not supposed to be handling all those kids but what can she do. Kia over here trying to deal with a crazy ass baby daddy and she can't keep running around. Henry is away in school and I'm in school too. We can't rely on Zander to be after the kids and mommy wants them to stay together"

Me, "so what have be doctors been saying? like is she going to be okay?"

Diamond, "we rushed her to the hospital and they said that they're going to be monitoring her. I'm not sure what else is going to be happening but when the kids get home from school I'm going to take them to see her"

Me, "I'm going to go and see her now. Like what triggered her to end up in the hospital?"

Diamond, "well Eva was telling me that she called grandma last night because Mack was screaming at them. So mom came over and that when Mack started going crazy. He was cursing and stared pushing people around. He nearly kicked Kalisa down the stairs"

Me, "he did what? where is he?"

Diamond, "I have no idea and Kia isn't saying anything. Like she's been locked up in the room and I honestly think that something happened between the two"
