By the end of the week I had talked to about 30 different people and no one clicked but I met this nice chick. She was either the assistant to one of the managers or she was a stylist. I tried to get with the chick but she wasn't interested in me. Like it was a complete 100% no and that really made me think about myself. I wasn't some far off dude and I had some money and a bit of fame so it confused me as to why she was just 100% on the swerve. I wasn't gonna bring it up with my home-boys but the girl stayed in my mind.
On the flight back to NY I still had no manager but at least Dae had finished off one song for me and I was just going to rock with that when I went to met with RCA about an album. The executives were generally easy people to please and they always gave me outlandish time frames and creative control which was amazing. I hadn't been putting out stuff in over a year and a half so this was going to be interesting. I wasn't expecting to get a lot of good news but hopefully I would be able to at least push for major control on the direction of the album. The usual people were there but they had this new man named Mr. Stone that was watching in. I made my little piece and told them my vision and he was the only one that questioned the vision. I liked that because a challenge was always something that made me greater. After the meeting he still wanted to talk with me so we went out to dinner.
Mr. Stone, "So why are you heading back into musis after such a long hiatus? Aren't you worried about the fan base being non-existant?"
Me, "Well I gotta get some stuff out there before I drop an album but I believe that there are some great fans out there that want to hear me. I have the talent and if I dropped a song tonight I can garuntee that by the end of the month I can get it at gold level"
Mr. Stone , "Well I noticed that you came in here today with no representation and I'm trying to figure out why you don't have a manager"
Me, "Well I had one but I've been on a break so he's working with other people and I'm not gonna be the one to steal someone back. I like doing me and hanging with my crew and not everyone can deal with that"
Mr. Stone, "Okay, so tell me more about the crew?"
Me, "Well we were called Kudos and we made music together for like my first 5 years in the game. Time from time we actually get together and make music together so I don't forget my roots, but I personally roll around with a crew of like 6 or 7. But when we all get together it's a good 20 people and we all chill and have fun"
Mr. Stone, "Okay now I want to know more about you"
Me,"Well i'm kind of interested in seeing why you're so into knowing more about me. Like what do you need this for?"
Mr. Stone, "Well I've been told that you're looking for a manager and I need a new client. We get along"
Me, "What do you know about hip-hop and managing artist like myself"
Mr. Stone, "I don't know anything but you didn't know anything when you started rapping, so let's make the journey together. You're making a comeback and I'm tryna make an introduction, so are you gonna rock with me or nah?"
Me, "Listen as long as we see the money coming in and we have some nice stuff going on then I just don't care too much"
Mr. Stone, "Well I guess now you can start calling me Mark. Listen let me hear everything that you've got or whatever your picture is for the album because you can sell and people are interested"
Me, "I honestly have one song and I'm not tyring to rush anything"
Mark, "There is no rush going on I just want to make progress happen because I know that the label is going to start breaking into new divisions and that means cutting back on artist that don't produce, so we need to release a track legally or not and get the audio out"
