'He's in surgery, Dems.' Marissa says softly as she watches Demi stare in the window at the empty hospital bed.

'What the hell happened?' Demi asks, tears fill her eyes as her hand rests on her stomach.

'We don't know. He was on a jet ski and everything was fine; the water was so calm.' Marissa replies and Demi shakes her head.

'I can't lose him, not now.' Demi says.

'Are you Mrs Valderrama?' An older looking doctor asks directing his question towards Demi as she nods her head. He glances down at the folder in his hand before looking back up at he clearly distraught woman.

'Your husband sustained some very serious injuries to his lower body. The surgery to repair some of the damage to his left leg at this stage seems to have been a success however the next twelve hours are critical.' The doctor says and Demi closes her eyes as tears stream down her cheeks.

'Dems, he's a fighter...' Kelsey says placing her hand on Demi's shoulder.

'Where is he?' Demi asks glancing up at the doctor.

'He's in recovery at the moment. It'll be probably be an hour or so before we bring him back up to the room. I can have someone show you to the relative room if you'd be more comfortable?' The doctor says and Demi shakes her head.

'I'll wait here.' She replies. Nodding his head he smiles sympathetically at her before making his way down the corridor.

'You should sit down, Dems.' Kelsey says.

'I'm fine.' Demi replies leaning against the wall.

'You're not fine; you're shaking and you're horribly pale, Dems.' Marissa says and Demi shakes her head.

'I am fine.' She replies. Sighing Marissa leans on the wall beside Demi.

'He'll be okay; he's a fighter.' Marissa says as Demi rests her head on her shoulder.

'What happened out there.' Demi almost whispers and Marissa sighs.

'I really don't know, Dems. He was fine; he was on the jet ski and he was fine then he wasn't.' Marissa says.

'Should we wake her?' Marissa asks as a bed containing Wilmer is wheeled into the hospital room opposite them. They managed to convince Demi to sit down just over forty-five minutes ago and now the brunette has her head resting on Marissa's shoulder.

'I'm not sleeping.' Demi mumbles opening her eyes.

'They've brought him back... He's not awake yet but he's in there.' Marissa says gesturing to the room.

'C-Can I go see him?' Demi asks and Kelsey nods her head.

'Doctor said you can go in and sit with him if you want.' Kelsey replies. Standing up Demi takes a deep breath before making her way into the room; Wilmer is lying in the bed hooked up to all sorts of different machines.

'Oh, Wilmer...' She whispers softly. She makes her way over to the side of the bed and takes his hand into hers.

'You need to stay strong, okay? I need you to come back to me and our baby because I can't do this without you. I don't want to be a single mom, a widow; I need you.' She says running her thumb over his knuckles. Sighing she leans down and presses her lips against the back of his hand as a tear falls down her cheek.

'Mrs Valderrama?' A young woman asks as she makes her way into the room and Demi glances up.

'I'm nurse Roberts; I'm here to update you on your husband's condition.' The nurse says.

Just a short chapter for now; there may be a chapter later depending on how I'm feeling but I don't know. I just want to ask that you all keep the victims of the awful attack in Manchester in your thoughts. For me it is somewhere so close to home and I can't even comprehend that someone would target children so please keep the victims, who are as young as eight, and their families in your thoughts
