We Meet Again - Kylo Ren and Rey

Discovered and Relentless

~The next day~

Rey awoke to the sound of birds chirping. She rubbed her blurry eyes and sat up. She opened her eyes to find soft rays of sunlight streaming into her room. She had specifically requested a room with a window; she hated feeling trapped. Everything here was so...soft, compared to her life on Jakku. The clothing, the bed especially, even the wind was softer than the biting, scorching wind of the desert.

She got dressed in her white shirt, leggings, and jacket, then reached for her belt and tied it on. After tying up half of her hair, she glanced at her broken lightsaber before leaving her room.

Kylo had beaten her to breakfast. He was already sitting at one of the metal tables, digging into some bread and meat. Every time Rey watched him eat, he seemed ravenous. Kylo gulped down the remainder of his blue milk before looking up and seeing Rey. He nodded to her in acknowledgment.

Rey headed to the table full of food and picked up bread and a piece of fruit. She munched on the fruit as she walked towards the open doors to the courtyard. Before she reached the doors, she heard a distant rumbling.

The feeling of dread weighing down her chest, Rey ran out the doors and looked towards the sound. The black metal of six TIE fighters gleamed in the morning sun as they approached the Resistance base. Following behind the fighters was a shining silver ship. A shiver went up Rey's spine as panic filled her.

The ships were roaring by the time they reached the base. Kylo Ren ran out into the courtyard to Rey, followed by a group of people. Leia and Finn were among them.

The ships skidded to a halt on the runway. Kylo took a step forward to stand next to Rey, his presence a comfort to her. The blast doors of the silver ship opened with a hiss of steam. Kylo's eyes narrowed at the person who emerged from the cloud of smoke. It was none other than General Hux who sauntered out of the chrome starship.

Rey stiffened her posture as Ren balled his fists by his side. Hux strolled towards them.

"Are you happy with your pet, traitor? " Hux spat at Ren.

It took everything inside Kylo to keep from choking him on the spot.

"Hello to you, too," Kylo growled.

"After I heard what had happened with... Snoke, I took it upon myself to resume the reign of the First Order. And you, Master Ren, are going to pay for what you've done."

Stormtroopers began dropping from the TIE fighters, armed with their blasters, aiming them towards the Resistance members. The Resistance members frantically whispered to each other.

"General...stop...they've done nothing," pleaded Ren.

"I am not a General, Ren. I am Supreme Leader!" Hux bellowed.

Immediately Resistance fighters began running out of the hangers to their right, also armed with blasters. Some knelt in the front line while others stood and aimed for the stormtroopers. Hux motioned behind him towards the stormtroopers, signaling them to advance. They began to head towards the Resistance fighters, while Hux walked towards Kylo and Rey, pulling a blaster out of his belt. Ren put a hand over Rey and pushed her behind his body. Hux grinned wickedly and held the blaster out towards Kylo. Four stormtroopers were now surrounding the Resistance members.

"I said I'd make you pay, and now I'll get my revenge," Hux said with ice in his voice.

Within a second Hux had aimed towards Kylo's leg and shot him with a flash of red light. Leia yelled out. Kylo grunted in pain and stumbled backward, but did not move away from Rey. Rey gripped onto his arm to help him stay standing.

"My, my, what do we have here? Precious mommy Solo?" Hux grinned and shot at Kylo again. Kylo cried out and fell to his knees, clutching his side. Hux reached forward and snatched Rey, who was now fighting against his vice-like grip.

"Rey!" Kylo screamed. He tried to stand, but, still weak from the fight with Snoke, stumbled right back down onto the tiled floor. He reached out to her with a bloodied hand, dripping red from re-opened wounds.

"Kylo! Stop... let me g..." Her words were cut short by Hux slamming the butt of the blaster onto her head.

The world went dark and silent.
