We Meet Again - Kylo Ren and Rey

Interrogation and Disappointment

~The medical bay on the Resistance Base of D'Qar~

Rey awoke to the doors of the ward being opened, letting the early morning sun stream into the building. She wrinkled her nose at the light and blinked, looking at who had disturbed her sleep. Luke and Leia were walking towards them.

Rey was suddenly extremely self-conscious to be seen in the same bed as the General's son. Looking back down, she realized that Ben was still leaning against her shoulder, holding her hand. She quickly pulled her hand away, letting his fall back onto the bed. She felt him stir beside him, and his deep breathing stopped. He lifted his head off of Rey's shoulder and rubbed his eyes. When he lifted his eyes and saw the pair approaching, he narrowed them in annoyance. Here we go.

Rey glanced down at Ren before getting out of the bed, every part of her aching. Ben tried to re-adjust himself in the bed to better see Luke and Leia as they arrived at the bed, but to no avail. He grunted with pain and fell back onto the pillow.

Rey looked over at Luke and Leia. Luke had his arms crossed, and Leia was looking at her son.

"I had expected more from my students," Luke growled disdainfully.

Rey turned her eyes away from them, biting her lip.

Leia walked towards Ben, holding her hand to his forehead to feel his temperature. He shied away from her touch, dropping his eyes with a gulp. He moved his tongue around in his mouth, obviously uncomfortable. Leia dropped her hand in frustration.

"Ben," she said with exasperation.

He looked back up with a glare, which was then softened by the look of sadness on his mother's face.

"Forgive me," stated Kylo. It was more of a statement and less like a request.

There was an awkward pause.

Luke finally broached the subject of their arrival. "We came to find out what happened on the star destroyer. From what Chewie told us, Ben, is that when you arrived, you were ambushed by troopers, led by "Supreme Leader" Hux. You were wounded, but Hux is now dead, am I not wrong?"

"No, you are not," Kylo replied curtly.

Rey piped in. "I was pinned against the wall by a guard, and Kylo saved me. But Hux... attacked Kylo, and I killed him in return. But I...I thought Kylo wouldn't make it. Rey's eyes began to water, but she forced the tears back.

Luke sighed. "See, Ben? This is what happens when you sneak off without permission," he stated, matter-of-factly.

Leia made a face of disapproval at Luke.

"If Ben had not gone, Rey would most likely still be in the hands of the enemy, or even dead, and Hux would still be alive."

Ben looked up at his mother with a sense of pride and wonder. Leia grinned at him with a tilt of her head. She still cares for me, he thought, after all I've done to hurt her. He sent a very slight smile back.

Luke noticed Ren's lightsaber clipped to Rey's belt.

"Rey, I'll have that," he told her, holding his hand out to the saber. Rey looked down with confusion and spotted the saber. She hesitated, looking over at Ben before pulling it from her belt and holding it out to Luke. Before the Jedi Master could take it from her, Leia reached out her hand and grabbed it from Rey, putting it in her coat pocket. Luke squinted at Leia.

"Thank you, love," she said to Rey. "Come on, Luke, let's leave them."

As they began to walk away, Rey mouthed an "I'm sorry" to Ben.

After a few seconds, Rey heard Luke's and Leia's footsteps come to a halt. Luke had a hand on Leia's arm as he turned around and headed back towards Rey. He frowned when he reached Rey.

"Why don't you come with us, Rey." He looked over at Kylo, who was sending an icy stare towards Luke.
"Leave him here."

Rey looked at Kylo with hesitation before following Luke. As they caught up to Leia, who was waiting for them, Luke grunted.
"It's time to discuss what will become of Ben."

Leia pursed her lips as Rey stared at Luke, eyes wide and eyebrows raised.
