"Y/N," Minseok said gently. He started to say something but he stopped. He proceeded to do that several times before saying, "I'm sorry it couldn't turn out the way you wanted... but I won't leave your side."

"I know. It's just not the same," you said sadly.

And it wasn't. You would love to have been trapped in a room with Minseok for the duration of the trip. Well, you wouldn't have been trapped then. You imagined you would have gone sightseeing with him and wouldn't mind looking like a happily married couple even if it would have been arranged. Maybe the two of you could have fallen in love.

The pair of you would have had a happier story than you and Kai. There couldn't be love between you and Kai. You couldn't be happy.

One of the worst parts of being married to Kai meant you would never have children. Your parents would certainly expect and encourage you to have children in the coming years but you knew that the only possible way for you to have a child with Kai was for your parents to force you into a fertility clinic and forcefully artificially inseminate you. There was no chance of you sleeping with Kai. It was something you wanted when you were younger, sure. Not anymore. The thought made you shiver.

"You look upset," Minseok caressed your cheek with his warm hand. "Want me to tell you a secret?"

You raised an eyebrow, "A secret?"

He nodded with a goofy smile, "I was going to surprise you, but you seem flustered and I want to help."

What could Minseok possibly surprise you with? "I'm listening."

"I know that you and Kai have to move into a house together."

You rolled your hand at him, gesturing for him to tell you more.

"It's somewhere special."

You groaned, "Minnie! Stop being so cryptic and tell me!"

His smile still hadn't left his face, "You've been blessed with three very attentive and fun neighbors."

What was he talking about?

He laughed at your confused look, "Kai knew that it would be hard on you to... well, to live with him so he got a house in the neighborhood that all of the guys live in. Jongdae, Baekhyun, and I are right next door."

"You're lying," you whispered as you prayed that he wasn't.

With a ruffle of your hair he shook his head, "You silly girl, I already told you I don't lie to you. Why would I make this up?"

"To get my hopes up and so I'd be more pleasant to Kai on this trip."

He poked your cheek, "I resent that. I would never manipulate you like that. Your trust in me is something I value which is why you should trust me when I say that we're neighbors. If you don't believe me though, I'm sure you'll learn soon enough when Baekhyun is over at your house twenty-four seven annoying you."

Baekhyun wasn't one of the boys that you knew very well, in fact, Jongdae and Minseok were the only ones that you really talked to but you had seen the others and knew their names by now.

"Don't look so freaked out. Baekhyun is a complete opposite of what I'm sure you're expecting. He won't be mean to you in the slightest. In fact, the worst thing he'll do is drive you to insanity."

You found yourself laughing at Minseok's words as you pressed yourself back into his chest, "Thank you."

"For what?"

"Being you."

"Anything for you," he whispered as he kissed the top of your head. "Think about thanking Kai too, it was his idea."
