It had been too long since you had seen Minseok and Kai knew it. You hadn't gone over to Baekhyun, Jongdae, and Minseok's house since before the night that Minseok had confessed to you – and that was three weeks ago. Kai was getting worried, especially since you never mentioned it. But god knows he wasn't going to mention it first.
Things between the two of you were in a good place. While you still weren't exactly the best of friends, you were talking to Kai more. Sometimes you would smile around him and he found that it was one of his weaknesses. He lived for the little moments that he would see the corners of your lips twitch. It was amazing that you could still seem happy when Minseok wasn't giving you any attention.
He also couldn't believe that Minseok was punishing you because of himself.
"Um, Kai," you said quietly from behind where Kai was sitting in his office, working on a new project for the insurance company. Kai gestured behind him for you to come in while he tried to contain his smile as he finished typing. You didn't come to see him in his home office, so he wondered how he got so lucky for you to visit him. In fact, you hadn't sought him out almost ever.
He spun around in his chair, his breath catching in his throat. You were wearing a bright white summer dress and your hair was pulled out of your face. How were you so simply beautiful? Even with no makeup or effort, you managed to stun Kai. Minseok was missing out, Kai thought because if he was in Minseok's position he would do whatever it took to see you every day considering the circumstances.
It was both of your days off as it was Sunday but normally he didn't see you since you spent your off days with Minseok. Of course, the past two Sundays you had just stayed in your room.
"Yes?" he asked when you didn't continue.
He saw your hands twitching at your sides as you shifted your weight from one leg to another. Were you nervous? If so, why? Kai tried to give you his best encouraging smile as he was lucky that you were even speaking to him. "Didyoumaybewanttodosomethingtogether?" you asked all in one long string without taking a breath.
Kai raised his brows at you, trying not to laugh at your nervousness around him. He felt ecstatic at the thought that you wanted to do something with him considering the only thing the two of you did together was occasionally have dinner. "Slow down," he said gently pressing his hands onto his desk.
You pivoted your foot, ready to flee. "Nevermind, it was stup-"
Kai lifted his hands up, "No, no. Not stupid. Just say it again slower."
You let out a shaky sigh but kept your foot still. "Did you want to do something today... like together?" hearing you say it slower was making his heart beat roughly against his chest. It shook him all over. Leaving his blood coursing at a higher speed than normal and causing his palms to feel sweaty.
He didn't hesitate, "That sounds fun. What do you want to do?"
Kai watched as you chewed on your lip, "I didn't really think that far... it's just that it's Sunday and it would be nice to get out of the house..." you trailed off.
"Say no more, let me finish up my work and we'll go do something," Kai said gently as he gave you another smile. You nervously smiled back at him and then you hurried off out of his office, accidentally slamming the door in the process.
The moment you were out of the room, Kai raised his fists in the air. He was making progress with you, finally. Nothing would ever make him as happy as you did and he would take advantage of every chance he had with you. No more would he take you for granted the way he did in the past.
