Profanity. Why is it everywhere nowadays?

I don't use profanity. That's my rule, and I'm sticking to it.

Using profanity will turn me off from your story. In some cases, it will cause me to stop reading. And when people use profanity (in stories or real life) I feel embarrassed for them that they don't know any better ways to express themselves. Just so you know that's what I'm thinking of you when you're thinking you're so cool for using curse words.

But I am aware that almost all people swear nowadays, and that's going to show in stories here on Wattpad too. So I guess what I'm saying is, I don't like unnecessary profanity. For example, I can get it if a drunken gang member is cursing a bit. I can even get it if teenagers are swearing once in a while, like when they're really upset. But if a quiet high school girl is dropping f-bombs and all sorts of other profanity every other word, that's just plain unnecessary, not to mention unrealistic.

I try to mentally beep out the bad words when I read stories with them. And be warned: if a character curses so much they sound more like R2D2 and I don't know what the heck they're talking about, well, I'm not gonna take them seriously.

Please don't let me read a story where a character says, "Bleep boop beeeep cats boop boop beep booop dinosaurs bleeeeep boop boop." Do you know what the character is trying to convey here? Yeah, neither do I. C3PO's not here to translate. So please, spare me.

And in case you were wondering, the title is a random jumble of letters. It's not supposed to be any specific swear word because, if you'll remember, I don't swear.
