Overconfident Writers

These are waaaay worse than the underconfident ones. Those just need a tiny reminder of their awesomeness every once in a while to boost their self-confidence and self-esteem. But the overconfident ones need a little dose of build-yourself-a-bridge-and-get-over-yourself-already medicine. Anyone know if you can find that at the local drug store?

You know the type. They're like the the rcv requirement people. In their author's notes they say things like, "Oh my gosh, I'm at 274928392938382 reads, 2483939383 votes, and 38382 comments! ... but that's not good enough. Oh, goodness gracious me, no! Don't be ridiculous! I've seen authors with 274928392938383 reads. Why don't I have that many? I need more! I barely have any! There are people with more than me, and that is not okay!"

And I'm sitting there thinking, "Well, good for you! I have like 60 reads on most of my books. The ones with the most reads still has under 1000, and you don't see me complaining, now do you? Congratulations on your oh-so-appreciated and way-more-than-you-deserve reads, by the way. It's not like that's an accomplishment at all or anything."

Yeah, the not-so-appreciated writers tend not to appreciate it when over-appreciated writers pout about how "few" rcvs they get.

It's like with money. Poor people tend to get pretty irritated if they hear someone saying, "Ugh, I can't afford that 30 gazillion dollar mansion. Guess I'll have to settle for the 2 billion dollar one instead. What a let down."

Like I said before, Get. Over. Your. Selfish. Little. Self.
