Chapter Twenty-seven pt.2: Hawaii

Melissa

"You read your test first." I said.

"Okay." Robyn placed the tests back on the counter faced down. Then she picked up a test and read it.

"Negative!!! I told y'all!" Robyn did a little dance and said "Okay, read yours."

"Here goes nothing." I said before I picked up my test and read the result.

"What does it say? Negative!! Do the happy dance." Robyn started doing the running man and I said "It's positive." Robyn stopped dancing and her jaw dropped. I swallowed hard before I burst into tears.

"It's gonna be okay Melissa." Robyn said, holding me in her arms and rubbing me back.

"No it's not!"

"Are you guys okay in there?" I heard Yusef ask as she knocked on the door. Robyn opened the door for him and I asked "Mijo isn't out there is he?"

"He's outside. He said he had to make a phone call."

"Good."

"What did the tests say?"

"Mine came out negative." Robyn said in a low voice.

"And what about you not so Virgin Mary."

"Positive."

"You mean positively not pregnant right?"

"No, I mean positive as in I'm having a baby."

"Damn, I wasn't expecting that."

"Neither was I."

"So what are you gonna do?"

"I don't know. I guess I'll have to keep it because there is no way I'm getting an abortion. I guess I'll have to get used to the idea that I'll be doing this all on my own."

"Stop saying that Mel. Mijo is not gonna leave you." Robyn said.

"You don't know that."

"And neither do you. You haven't even talked to him about this yet." Yusef said.

"I don't have to. I know when I tell him I'm pregnant he won't want anything to do with me. We just got together and now I'm having his kid. This is just happening to fast."

"No one told you to spread your legs." Yusef said.

"Yusef I'm not in the mood for jokes."

"I'm serious and with the way you preach to Robyn about protection I can't believe you let Mijo go in you raw."

"We got caught up in the moment."

"Was it good at least?"

"Yusef!" Robyn yelled.

"What? I wanna know."

"It was amazing Yusef. Like nothing I ever felt before or will ever feel again."

"For the last time Mijo isn't gonna leave you. He loves you Mel and I know he's gonna be there for you and the baby."

"When are you gonna tell him?" Yusef asked.

"I don't know."

"You can't hide it from him."

"Yeah Mel. You can only hide a baby bump for so long." Robyn said.

"I'm gonna tell him...just not tonight."

"He better know before we leave Hawaii because you know I can't hold water." Yusef said.
