Chapter 3 – Ruinous Encounter

“Great another long hallway.” Zaix said as he ran with the remaining Treyah students with him. Seiryu, Melfice, Lucian and Yue were the ones running with him as the halway that they were in at seemed to be endless.

“Is this one of those endless hallways again?” Lucian said as he urged the group to stop running. All of them had stopped in unison as they held on their weapons.

“Seems like it.” Seiryu said as his red eyes glowed brighter. “Or this could just be a really long path.” He added.

“Ding ding ding! And we have a winner.” A voice said once more. It was once again the red haired Sentis member as he appeared out of a grey void that he had conjured. “This just is a very long path.” He added as he ruffled his slick spiky hair.

“Your games are beginning to irritate me even more.” Yue said as she had an angry look on her face.

“Well a jester’s gotta do something.” Vrede said as he walked forward. “I mean I’m hauling my ass out for you guys. I’m actually helping you reach the master, it’s just that this place that we have is really complicated. Too much twists and turns to be honest and I must say I blame the layout designer of this place.” He said jokingly but none of the students were amused.

“Kids these days.” Vrede said with a sigh as he gestured them to follow him. The group hesitantly followed him as they kept their guard up. The red haired Sentis member again reached a stop and once more he conjured grey spirit energies in his hand.

He let out a huge blast of grey flames in front of him which prompted the students to pick up their weapons and shift to their fighting stances but he didn’t do that because of combat reasons.

It would seem that he cleared a path in front of him and what had stood in front of them all now was three doors. Vrede stood in the middle of the three corridors now that had been in front of them.

“You see here’s the catch. Each of you now will go to these three doors, but the thing is one has to stay behind.” Vrede said as he summoned his pair of sickles in each hand.

“What are you talking about?!” Melfice asked him in return.

“It has to be a guessing game from now on.” The red haired Sentis member said to them. “One of three paths leads to Verrath, the other two leads to truths.” He added.

“Stop talking in rhetoric.” Lucian said to him.

“I’m not.” Vrede said as his demeanor had changed. “It has to be this way.” He added.

“Splitting us up huh?” Seiryu said as he had a cold look on his face. “That’s quite a strategy.” He added as a smirk on his face had approached.

“Well I’m just following the master’s orders.” Vrede said as grey flames began to be present around him.

“Fine I’ll stay then.” The long haired student said. “We do have a score to settle after all.” He added.

“Seiryu!” Yue said to him but she felt Melfice’s hand on her shoulder.

“An excellent choice.” The red haired Sentis member said. “As for four of you, chose your own paths.” He added.

“Melfice, take Yue with you.” Lucian commanded him as the calm student made his way towards the leftmost door. Zaix took the rightmost door in response as he held on his gauntlets.

Melfice and Yue now went to the door right in the middle. Vrede snapped his fingers and on cue, the doors opened right in front of them and the four Treyah students went through their respective doors now and only Seiryu and Vrede are now left.
