Chapter 25 – One Last Narrative

“Th-that’s right…” Verrath said as he coughed out blood. He lay on the ground that had remained during his fight with Seiryu. “Eyurghh…” he groaned as he tried to move but he couldn’t.

The long haired student then made his way towards the downed leader and he stood over his dying body. Verrath’s body began to degrade as grey spirit energy escaped from it slowly. His weapon had began to rust at a rapid rate as grey spirit energy escaped from it as well. The downed leader then faced the person that had brought him his death and defeat.

“Come to finish the job?” he said to him as he seemed to be at peace at his time of death.

“Always stealing my line…” a familiar voice said and he had emerged from the edge of one of the cliffs of the ground. He had a huge wound on his torso as he tried to ruffle his red hair. It was none other than the Sentis member that had tried to help Yue and the others earlier.

“So you are alive…” Verrath said as he saw his particles escape from him.

“Vrede…” Seiryu said to him as he saw the red haired Sentis member struggle to stand as well. His torso wound was deep due to Verrath stabbing him earlier. “How long have you been alive? I saw you die…” he said.

“Long enough to recover slightly.” He said. “The ground collapsed as you fought the huge armor and I took advantage of one crevice and hid there to recover.” He said to him.

Both he and Seiryu now looked to where Verrath was laying down. They saw his blue hair turn a faint grey and his eyes turn from their emerald bright color to a faint grey color. His skin on his face began to show signs of degradation again.

“The end of me…” Verrath said weakly as he looked up into the grey void that was falling apart. His realm, the one which was known as the Oblivion realm, was now falling apart with him. “Will never be the solution…” he said weakly once more.

“You were a threat.” Seiryu replied to him as he had a cold tone on his voice.

“So is the entire human race.” The leader said as he now looked towards the former Sentis member with the student. “So it wasn’t only her…” he said as he coughed up blood. “Who…was the…traitor…” he said as he felt pain in his lungs. Grey spirit energy continued to escape from his body as he degraded and collapse even further.

“We weren’t betraying you…” Vrede said to him. “Fraus saw through your intentions as she spent time with them. She found out.” He added.

“Found out what?” Seiryu asked him in response.

“That there is more important things to do than to curse the entire humanity of the world. In the end she was the one who saw it from all perspectives. She was balanced, neutral.” Vrede said and Verrath took note of this.

“Keep telling yourself that…” the fallen leader said as he was wounded and fatigued even more.

“You were too busy cursing the humans and plotting your revenge in the end you were acting just like them. You were being caught up in your ‘emotions’.” The former sentis member said to him. “In the end you became just like the entity you swore to end.” He said to him.

Verrath cringed at first when he had heard his former comrade say those things to him, but then he let out a smile from his degrading face.

“Maybe…you’re right…” he said as he saw particles of grey energy escape from his body. He felt weaker as he died slowly and waited for peace.  “I was going to die, but at the same time I wasn’t either.” He started to say.
