Chapter 5 – The Final Decision

Her platinum blonde hair shone in the greyness of the environment. The azure colored eyes on her face were calm and yet they were serious. Her grey cloak was worn still and it had fit her somewhat petite body. She held her chakram shuriken on her left hand.

“Just in time.” The girl said as she was facing them.

“Elle…” Melfice said weakly.

“This is the choice that we all have to make.” Fraus said to them as she walked closer to them.

“Come back to us…” Yue then said. “You’ve already helped us in a lot of ways.” She added.

“I know.” Fraus said. “Which is why I cannot live any longer” She added.

“What are you talking about?” Melfice asked her. “You can always make that choice!” he added.

Fraus smiled at the fire wielder but her smile was neither of sarcasm nor of evil intent. For the first time she was actually smiling for a sincere purpose.

“You all have poured so many memories into me.” She started to say. “Even as a remnant, I grew to be attached to all of you.” She continued.

“Elle…” Yue said to her.

“It was a nice feeling to be living alongside all of you.” She continued. “Even though if we had our conflicts to solve and our own issues to bury.” She added.

Melfice tried to keep his composure but then he felt tears rolling down from his cheeks.

“Please don’t do this…” he pleaded as he fell on his knees.

“In time we have learned to accept that our fates do not lie together.” Fraus said to them. “The real Elle is gone…” she continued. “We have to face the fact that I’m just a remnant of her.” She concluded as grey energy raged around her.

“Elle…” Yue said as she tried to get closer, but the fluctuating levels of grey flames.

“Now it is time for me to go.” She said. “I cannot continue to linger in this world any longer.” She added as she braced herself for combat.

It was evident that the two students were somewhat hesitant to face their former comrade in battle.

“Come back… to us…” Melfice uttered. “Please Elle…” he continued.

Fraus was also hesitant but she knew what she had to do.

“I won’t hold back.” She said as grey flames surrounded her

“Darn it…Don’t make me do this!” Melfice shouted as flames surged around him. He rushed towards Fraus with his hybrid gunblade.

Fraus was ready this time as she evaded the incoming rush from her former comrade but it would seem that Melfice wasn’t going to attack her, instead he did something that caught her off-guard. He had pulled Fraus into a deep embrace and this put the latter in an immobile state.

“Don’t do this…” he said as he set himself on fire with his flames. His fires and her grey spirit flames meshed together as the remained close to one another.

“Melfice…” she said as she seemingly returned the embrace, but then slowly she pushed him off her. “This has to happen.” She said to him as she held on her weapon once more.

Yue charged up her lightning spirit energy around her as well in order to get ready for the fight ahead of her.

“So you have decided finally…” she said as some tears rolled down her eyes.
