Chapter 15 -  Fraus’s End and Elle’s Legacy

“Ugh…” Fraus said as the explosion had already cleared up. It would seem that she had reverted back to her original form, which was the hooded girl. Her platinum blonde hair still shone amidst the grey and dullness of the area around her.

Melfice on the other hand held on his stance as he had his eyes closed. He felt that his gunblade was heavy and it turns out that he had impaled Fraus with it on her torso area. He opened his eyes and saw that she was reaching out to him. He saw that she had already reverted back to her original form.

“E-elle…” he said as he let go of his gunblade in disbelief. She got the blade out of her torso with no struggle but then she fell on the ground on her back. The hybrid wielder threw his blade aside and immediately went nearer towards her.

“Destiny seems… to be a funny thing isn’t it?” Fraus said as she coughed afterwards while lying on the floor. She had blood on her torso and on the edge of her lip. She held on Melfice’s hands who were trying to reach out to her.

The force field that had encased Seiryu and Yue had already disappeared and the two of them landed on the ground. They saw that the huge explosion that they saw earlier had already dwindled down and they went to the source of it. Immediately they saw Melfice, as he held on their former comrade. Her grey cloak had blood near the torso area where she was stabbed.

“Elle…” the hybrid wielder said to her as he ran his fingers across her hair.

“That name…” she said softly. “That’s me…right?” she asked him. Tears fell from her face without even knowing that she was already crying. Melfice wiped her of her tears with his hands.

Yue and Seiryu looked at her and the former started to tear up as well. She knew that one of her closest friends was already in the brink of death. Seiryu on the other hand still struggled inside him on what to feel. On one hand he felt betrayed and he knew that this should be her fate, but on the other hand, he felt sorry for her. He tried to mask his feelings by looking away, but he couldn’t.

“Yes…that’s your name…” Melfice said weakly as he tried to hold back his tears, but in the end he couldn’t. He couldn’t bear to see his friend die. He looked around and saw that Yue and Seiryu were already free of the force field. “Yue, you could heal her…right?” he asked her. “Right?!” he began to raise his voice a little.

The azure haired girl examined the wound on Fraus’s torso from her position and immediately she knew that she was beyond saving already. She faced Melfice and slightly shook her head as tears rolled down on her cheeks.

“I’m…beyond saving already…” Fraus said to him in response. She let out a faint smile towards him and placed a hand on his cheek.

“Don’t say that…you can’t die…” the hybrid wielder said to her in response.

“So…it was really you…who cared all along…” she said softly to him as she continued to say her last words. “I wish I could’ve known you…more…” she said as well.

Seiryu moved closer to where they were at. From her statement alone he knew that Fraus finally understood things.

“You don’t have to do this…” Melfice said to her as he held her tightly around his arms.

“What can you achieve by dying for a master that had already disregarded you?” Seiryu said as darkness energy raged around him. He tried to hold back but his emotions of negativity had taken the bes of him when he had said that statement.

“Shut up…” Melfice said at him. “She’s still Elle!” he shouted at her. The look in his eyes had been angry but it was sad at the same time.
