Flower Gift

"Mom I don't want to go to school. Can't I stay home and play with Natsu all day?"

"You can't do that, he's just a little baby and he needs his rest and you need your schooling."

I looked away from my mother, when we walked across the street, getting closer to that place she calls 'fun' when really it's the worse place ever. For an 12 year old, school is not fun. It's really hard, I thought sixth grade was going to be a piece of cake, but sadly it made me feel alone.  Nearing the door, she stop and bends down to my level, placing her hands on my cheeks.

"Don't worry alright, everything is going to be fine, just do what you can and ask for help if you need it alright. I love you zeref, have a good day at school." She kisses my forehead and pushes me towards the entrance. I look over my shoulder to see her smiling at me and waving bye, before turing around and walking away. Don't leave mom, I don't wanna be here. I enter the school, walk down the hallway to where my first period is.

Not a lot of kids are in the hallway, so I'm able to hear all the kids in my classroom talking amongst themselves. I slowly open the door, then close it behind me. I don't look up once when  I go over to my seat in the back of the room. I'm happy my spot was over by the window that looks out to the grassy fields, I'm able to see how green the grass is and how blue the sky is as well. I notice that the spring flowers are coming in, all the reds and yellows flowers. 

I hear the door open, thinking it the teacher I look over to see her walk in, but instead I see the beautiful blonde they call Mavis come into class, she sits in front of me. She comes over and takes her spot, sets her pencil case down then waits. I'm not sure why, but every time I see her my face gets hot and my heart beats faster. I think I'm getting sick or something, but I only get this feeling when I see her.

The teacher goes on and on about some guy and how he invented something, that I could really care less about. I rest my arms on the desk and use them to rest my chin on. I look outside once more and picture myself laying in the grass, feeling the breeze hit my skin, and having the sun warm up my body. "Yes, Mavis?" I rip my eyes from the window to focus on the blonde in front of me, the way the sun was coming in from the window, made he hair look like gold, almost like she was glowing.

"Can I move spot? The sun is hurting my eyes."

"Oh yes, go sit with Zeref in the back."

She's gonna sit next to me?!  I sit up quickly and watch her pick her things up, the close she gets to the chair next to me, the more my face heats up. I really hope I don't get her sick. She smiles at me before setting her stuff done. She sits in the chair, but seems uncomfortable. She glances over at me once more, but looks away quickly. Why does she keep looking away? Am I gross looking? Is there something on my face? The more I think about this, the less focus I am on the teacher and the more I look at her.

"Alright class, work on these sheets with the person next to you."

We are both handed some sheets that will require us to use our text book. She looks it over once then starts looking for the answer. I open my backpack to get my own text book, but I don't feel it inside. I sigh to myself when I know that I left my text book at home. I look over to Mavis who's writing down answers already. I have to talk to her. " Can I..."

She stops moving her pencil, then looks over in my direction. "What was that?" Her voice sounded very nice to my ears, almost lyrical in a way. I got tongue tied when I had to answer her back, but instead I just tapped on her textbook with my pencil. "You need to look too?" I just nod my head, she pushes her text book to the center and sits closer to me. "Here, I got some answers already, you can copy them and we can find the rest together." I take up my pencil in my trembling hands and write the answers down.
