Adventures of the past...
That night neither of us got any sleep, we were anticipating the next morning.
As soon as the clock ticked nine, Adam called the number on the business card and we met with the older man in the same diner I worked at.
The younger one did not show up, maybe he was busy or something.
We agreed on the terms and conditions, signed few papers and our baby was officially ours.
We then, rang a tow truck, picked our Mustang and dropped it to Adam's garage where we are going to work on it. Once we washed it up, we saw the real beauty we believed in, the first time we saw it. She was gorgeous!
We worked on it day and night; we were so excited to bring it back to life. Adam was working so passionately and so professionally, it's like he has done it for years; he fixed the engine and changed the tires.
We bought new black leather, smelling amazingly, for the seats and other fabric for the interior and a fresh paint for the exterior – I wanted to paint it dark blue but Adam convinced me to keep its original red color. I was his sidekick, I assisted him in most of the things and I learned a lot during the process. It needed few things until it's done, Adam said it still needed a fuel injector that needs to be shipped from outside before it is completely ready.
And I believed him...
Little did I know...
Almost two weeks later, on my 18th birthday, Adam came to my room he blindfolded me, and helped me down the stairs leading to something nearby. If my cognitive memory is working well he is leading me to his garage, so we walked a little until he unfolded my eyes and there she was, the most beautiful thing my eyes ever witnessed.
She was supreme; red, beautiful, shiny, breathtaking, I was so happy and proud that my vision suddenly blurred and I felt something warm tracing on my cheek... I was so happy and proud that I started crying.
It was my very first happy tear...
"The car has been ready for weeks, I just wanted to keep it for your 18th birthday," He said with his crooked smile that never fails to knock me off my feet
"But uh, how, than...k... really, um, a.." were the only words I could form still glancing at the car while giving my back to Adam.
So he came from behind me, wrapped his arms around my waist and whispered
"Happy Birthday Super Girl"
And added "Look what you've done! You fixed it now let's go try it"
He gave me all the credit for fixing the car! How selfless can this boy be?
He turned me around, cupped my face with his hand then he wiped my tears with his thumb the same way he always does it when I cry and it works in a supernatural way. I don't know whether it's his mystic touch against my skin or the way my head fits perfectly in the palm of his hand.
He then led me to the car, opened the passenger door for me, held my hand to help me inside.. There, on the passenger seat, lied a small box with a red ribbon matching the car,
"What is this?" I asked surprised
"Not every day you turn 18 baby girl"
"You shouldn't have! You know I don't like gifts on my birthday"
"Just open it already and lecture me about it tomorrow," he said with a sarcastic tone and excitement was filling his eyes
I started unwrapping the box slowly, my heart was racing and my palms were sweating, as I untied the ribbon, I opened the box to the most beautiful heart shaped necklace I have ever seen and a "Super Isa, since 2009" engraved on the back.
