Things were too quiet in Beacon Hills for the past couple of months, making the Whittemore girl suspicious. She didn't tell anyone as she had no one to say anything to. Kayla had tried to move on with everything, past the fact that her friends took away the man she loved, but she distanced herself.

So, here Kayla was, in her high school's courtyard watching her pack discuss graduation and something else that happened last night. She kept noticing the glances they would give her, but she didn't keep eye contact for more than a couple seconds.

"Hey."

Kayla looked up and saw her two sophomore boys who didn't betray her. She smiled and set her pen down, "How are my favorite boys doing?"

"Why do you still treat us like we're twelve?" Liam groaned. Ever since he first met Kayla in the beginning of the year, she has always treated him like a baby.

Mason smiled and nudged Liam, "I like it. It's funny."

"You think everything is funny," Liam took a grape from Kayla's bag after he said this. "So...when can we come see your apartment?"

Luckily, the bell rang and Kayla gathered her stuff. She popped her last grape in her mouth and said, "Never," before walking off to class.

Avoiding people was a habit of hers now. Scott, Stiles, and Lydia were in her next class so she had to make sure to get a seat where they couldn't sit by her. Kayla spotted a seat in the second row with all the seats filled around her. However, the guy in front of her stood up and changed seats. Stiles then came through the doorway and sat down right in front of her, Scott to his right.

Stiles slowly turned around when the movie began and looked at Kayla who was only writing in her notebook. He saw the title of her story and it said Riders of the Storm. "What's that about?"

Kayla's eyes drifted to Stiles' face and she looked at him oddly. "I don't know, just came to mind."

Stiles opened his mouth, but closed it when he decided it would be for the best to just not talk to her. Kayla ignored the awkward moment that just happened and continued to write her short story. She really didn't know what it was about, but her hand kept writing and her pen kept producing words.

Before she knew it, the bell rang. She noticed Scott and Stiles getting out of here quickly, making her wonder what they were up to now. She ignored it, however, knowing she shouldn't get involved.

______________

"Why am I here?" Kayla mumbled to herself as she saw the lacrosse field in sight. She had skipped most of the games this season, but something in her wanted to come to this one.

Kayla turned a corner, but regretted going this way when she looked up and saw Stiles walking towards her. She turned around, but his hand grabbed her arm, "Hey. Can we talk?"

"Stiles I don't–"

"I'm sorry, okay?" Stiles interrupted her when she turned around. "I knew how much you liked Theo and I didn't stop it. I'm going to have to live with that for the rest of my life. However, I can't lose my best friend."

Kayla crossed her arms and actually thought about letting Stiles back in. It wouldn't be awful, would it? "You're lucky I love you."

Stiles smiled and hugged his blonde best friend. Once he released from the embrace, his face got all serious. "There's actually something I need to tell you. Something we've been discovering these past couple days."

"That look...it's a very serious look." Kayla knew that something was up, something very serious. "Stiles, just tell me."

"They're called the Ghost Riders," he began with. "They take people and erase them from existence basically."

Her eyes widened as she remembered what she was riding earlier. Could Riders of the Storm be about the Ghost Riders? "What I was writing earlier; oh my god it was about them! Is that all?"

Stiles stayed silent for a moment before taking a deep breath, "I'm next."

Kayla stepped back a little and noticed the wind picking up around her. Leaves started to twirl like tornadoes in the air. She then heard the distant sound of hooves padding against the pavement and the horses' call. "We need to run."

"No," Stiles shook his head. He put his arms on her shoulders and made sure they held eye contact. "You can't follow me because if you see them, they'll take you too. I need you to get out of here Kayla, go somewhere safe. Just...try to remember me okay? No one else will."

Kayla nodded and wiped a tear that came out of her eye. She had just made up with her best friend and this is what she gets? Before Stiles was going to leave, he had to use this reference even in a serious time. "Just remember to help me Kayla Whittemore, you're my only hope."

The blonde quickly got the reference and started to laugh, but with a couple tears falling every few seconds. She watched as he turned around and ran off.

"Remember," Kayla whispered to herself, closing her eyes. "Remember."

______________

Stiles Stilinski was gone; erased from existence with no one remembering him. Well, the only exception being Kayla. She thought that when she would wake up the next morning, he would be gone from her memory, but he wasn't.

She walked into school with a weird sense surrounding her. Kayla saw Scott spot her and walk up to her. "Hey, you wanna walk to class together?"

"Sure..." Kayla trailed off. She started to follow the alpha to their Biology class. "Have you seen Stiles?"

Scott stopped walking and turned to face the blonde. Confusion was written all over his face. "What?"

"Our spastic, idiot best friend? Stiles seriously doesn't ring a bell?" Kayla's hands started shaking as she realized her nightmare was becoming true.

"Who the hell is Stiles?" Scott asked.

"Oh my god."
