Death was inevitable. I knew being a supernatural creature didn't guarantee myself a life without the fear of losing my life, and right now I was experiencing that. It turns out that the bullets had some sort of poison in them and it's now running it's course through my bloodstream.
Lydia, Mason, and Melissa all got shot too. I knew the hunters wanted us, but we are all innocent people. Never would I have thought that they would invade us with guns.
I looked up at my doctor who was such a sweet lady. She just finished with taking the bullets out, but knew there was something else wrong with me. The look on her face is just screaming that I'm going to die and there's nothing I can do. She wheels me back into my room where Theo is waiting for me. I don't want him to see me like this, but his shirt is covered in my blood and he hasn't eaten anything at all.
Once I'm secured, he comes up next to my bedside and brushes the hair out of my face. I'm sweaty, pale, and just feel so gross overall. Physically, my body looks totally fine since it healed up, but inside is where the real damage is going on.
"I should've been the one to get shot," Theo mumbles and looks at the bags under my eyes. "Everything is my fault."
"It's not your fault," I'm almost taken aback by how weak my voice sounds. I swallow and clear my throat, "I will always protect you."
I continue when I realize he's not leaving here for a while. "Go shower, change your shirt. Find Liam and tell him I'm going to be okay."
"Kayla–"
"Go."
A battle seems to be happening behind his eyes, but he leans down and gently presses his lips to my forehead. Theo leaves without another word and I am left all alone, slowly dying.

I wake up after many hours of rest and to be honest, when I closed my eyes earlier I thought they were never going to open again. I look at my skin and realize that it's slowly turning grey; starting at my toes. My body is slowly shutting down and nobody knows what's going on. I reach for my phone on the table next to my bed, but stop when someone enters through the door. I cover my feet quickly and see Isaac walk in...with Deaton.
Deaton immediately goes for the covers and pulls them off, revealing my basically dead feet. His eyes widen and the gears in his brain start working. "How did they get those bullets?"
"What is it?" Isaac asks as he sits on the chair by my bed.
"Aconitum," he answers and I look at him bewildered. "It's a rare werewolf poison that slowly shuts the body down. Side effects include numbness in body, dizziness, hallucinations. There's a cure, but we have to hurry."
