Waking up in my quiet, cold house was a drastic change to the warm, inviting, lively home of the pack. Actually there were sounds filling the mansion I call a home for once: my mother barking orders for the last minute set up for tonight.

I hadn't had a chance to see any of the decorations because Daniel had practically carried my half-asleep form up to my room last night. We hadn't left his house until three in the morning and the whole day just drained me.

It was a great night after the dinner. The kids played some games, people exchanged gifts, and then there was their run. It was the first time I actually got to see Daniel's actually wolf without being in a very drunk state.

"Are you sure you want to stay for this part?" Daniel asked, his voice full of skepticism. He had begun un bottoming his shirt, which made it hard to focus on his words. "You can go hang out in the house if you want."

"Nope, I uh- I'm good." My eyes were shamelessly glued to his very, well sculpted chest. "Nooooo problem at all."

"Serena?" I just hum in acknowledgment. "My eyes are up here love." He snickers and I flush red.

Luckily we were behind some trees so he could take off his dress clothes before shifting. I hadn't planned on coming along but he basically dragged me behind him.

"Hey, you're he one who started stripping in front of me!" I joke and laugh off my pervy actions... and then his pants hit the floor. "I think imma turn around now!"

My voice comes out rather high pitched and I blush a bit. That was the least amount of clothing I had ever seen on him, just his boxers. I wasn't going to complain, because damn, but it was an awkward situation.

The disgusting sound of bones cracking causes me to cringe, but when soft fur begins to nudge the palm of my had I turn.

"Wow," I say completely breathless. His wolf was completely black, if it weren't for the brown of the trees surrounding us I wouldn't be able to spot him. "You're beautiful."

My hands immediately begin to stroke his head, he releases a satisfied noise. His tongue sticks out and I laugh at him, how was he this huge massive thing but still and adorable dork?

"Come on," I turn and walk side by side with him out of the trees to where the rest of the pack was. All of them were in their wolf form: they ranged in size and color. I noticed two things, however: one, Daniel was the only solid black one; two, he was the larger along side another who I guessed was his dad.

They both release a loud howl then take off, the rest following behind.

I smile happily at the memory. That was by far one of the best Christmas Eves I have had in a long time. I really wished I could be there for Christmas, but alas I was stuck here for my "father's birthday". Even though his birthday is in the summer.

"Serena, darling, get up! You need to get ready for tonight." My mother's voice comes from the opposite side of my door and I groan in annoyance. "Now, Serena!"

With a final pout, I pull myself out of bed and begin to get ready.

Some days I can be ready in ten minutes tops, other days (like today) it literally takes me six hours to get ready. But in my defense, Lupe was also over getting ready.

By now the house was all set up and guest were to show up any minutes.

"You look great!" I gush and watch her spin in her blush pink gown. Her short hair was in soft curls, and she had nude makeup.

Her mask was on my vanity next to mine, both were actually pretty similar with the color being the only dusting difference

"So do you," she turns to me and looks down at my entire.

The dress for comfortably and curled and out in a semi-messy updo with natural make up. The necklace Daniel's gave me also laid on my neck.

"I think we're ready!" I cheer happily whilst staring at ourselves in the mirror.

"Good because people have already begun to show up," my mother says as she walks in. Her dress was a deep blue with a matching mask. She was texting away in her phone as she walked in, not bothers to give Lupe or I at least a glance. "Here this came for you."

She drops a little box on my dresser before leaving again.

"Well okay," Lupe says sarcastically while going to get he box for me. "It says 'My dearest, for you to wear tonight'." Flipping the card around her eyebrows furrow in confusion. "No name."

"I'm pretty sure it's Daniel," I grab the tiny box and open it to see a small diamond ring. It wasn't dramatic or out there, but small and simple. "It's beautiful."

Slipping it on I look at it on my hand.

"Daniel has good taste," Lupe comments and I just nod.

"Come on let's get down there." Handing her her mask I slip mine on as well before leading the way to the party.

As comforting as it was to have Lupe here and Daniel's beautiful gift, my stomach still twisted and turned in anxiety. Why do I feel like something bad is bound to happen?
