A year passed; they didn’t get to see their parents not even once and when they would ask the guards about them the guards would snap at them to ‘shut up’. They stayed close to each other being each other’s rock. Then one day the guards came into the room -where they kept them prisoners- with ropes. They opened the doors to the cell and walked in. They split up going straight to their victims. Without much struggle they had them tied and pushed out the door. It was easy to tell they were very scared and nervous. Chole’s body was shaking and her lips were trembling, tears were streaming down her face but she remained silent. The twins were anxious as they were being pushed after her. The guards pushed them down a semi dark hall and then the guards holding Chole stopped and opened a door. They pushed Chole inside and starting walking in after her. The kid tried struggling away wanting to run back into Edward’s or Johnathan’s arms. The twins thought they were going into the same room with her but they were wrong as the guards started pushing them away from the room.

“What are you going to do to her?” Edward shouted trashing in the guards arms he was done acting weak. “She is just a kid! She wouldn’t be able to survive.” He screamed. The guard stayed silent not giving him any kind of answer. Roughly they lead them into another room far down the black hall, the room was dark Edward couldn’t see his own legs moving as he walked. His knees were shaking and he was shivering it took him a second to realize it was cold in the room. Hands pushed him and his brother to their knees. The guards cut the ropes they tied their hands with as five persons wearing glowing white cloaks appeared around them in a circle with their palms faced-up. Edward tried to stand up but an invisible force pushed him down. He looked up at the cloaked persons whose faces were hidden in the shadows. Their hands were glowing a golden white and they were mumbling chants in Latin “animum mutant eam in solitudinem, et scribimus, et mutare fata.”

They chanted the words over and over. Edward was scared he admit that, he didn’t want to surrender to them but he knew he couldn’t fight either he would probably get killed. He was aware of his brother’s hand wrapping around his reassuring him that he was there- reassuring himself that Edward was there with him. At that moment Edward felt connected to him brother than ever before he was a part of him- Edward felt like he could feel what his brother was feeling and think what he was thinking. The chants of the witches changed and Edward started to feel dizzy but strong, he started to feel power slipping through him being a part of him. But there was something else a thirst that couldn’t be put off with water. His head was spinning and a headache was quickly forming. He wanted to pass out as the pain was too strong to handle alone- but that is the thing he wasn’t alone. There was a faint voice inside his head that was getting louder and louder telling him to not pass out like he desperately wanted. The voice was yelling at him to ‘Stay the f-ck awake’ the hand holding Edward’s hand tightened its grip and then did he realize it was his brother’s voice in his head.

‘I can’t’ he thought ‘I can’t it is too painful.’

You are stronger than that, try.’ his brother’s voice replied on his head and he was shocked by that. He thought he was going crazy that he started to hallucinate but he knew he wasn’t when Johnathan’s hand squeezed his again silently telling him it was true- that Edward could hear Johnathan’s thoughts and Johnathan could hear his.

At some time he had passed out the next day he woke up wrapped in warmness. A hand creasing his hair, he didn’t want to open his eyes- he didn’t want the calming sensation to stop-

‘Edward open your eyes I know you are awake.’ His brother’s voice rang in his head making him gasp.

‘How did you know?’ he thought.

‘It is a long story and I think it would be better to explain it aloud rather than through thoughts.’

Edward’s eyes fluttered open and he stared up at a familiar face.

‘Mom’ he yelled wrapping his arms around his dear mother.

‘I missed you Ed.’ she breathed as she hugged him back just as tightly. For a few minutes they stayed in each other arms swaying from side to side he didn’t want to let go of his mom it has been a year since he saw he last and he just wanted to stay in her arms wrapped in her familiar embrace that he always ran into when he was a kid.

Breaking free from his mother’s embrace he grinned at his father who sat next to Johnathan with their backs leaning against the wall. He wasn’t all that close to his father like his brother was. He preferred his mother since she had a soft spot for him

‘Oh the reunion!’ he suddenly heard someone say and frowned.

‘Did someone say something?’ he asked. The people in the room looked at each other and shook their heads. Suddenly he could hear more than one voice in his head at the same time. He looked around him and noted that no one was talking. The voices in his head grew louder and louder giving him a head ache. He could his parents’ and Johnathan’s voices in his head even though they weren’t talking.

‘What is wrong with him?’ his mother’s voice in his head said, he snapped his head towards her and asked ‘Did you say something?’

When she shook something clicked in his head.

‘What did you think a second ago quote it to me please mom.’ He said

‘What is wrong with him?’ she mumbled confused and Edward gasped and looked at his brother who was grinning.

‘I guess you found your gift.’ Johnathan said and Edward frowned. ‘What do you mean?’

‘A witch came in here before you woke up and told us that every vampire is born with a gift. Dad got strength and mom got perfect eyesight, I guess you can read minds’ Johnathan explained.

‘But you can also read mine? You answered me yesterday!’ Edward said and his brother nodded. ‘We are bonded –us too- we can hear each other’s thought and feel what the other is feeling. At least that is what the witch said.’ Johnathan explained. Edward nodded his hand going to his throat as he remembered the burning thirst he felt last night.

‘Yea about that, they fed us last night you probably wouldn’t remember since you were half asleep.’ Johnathan said and his brother nodded.

A thought popped into Edward’s head ‘Where is Chole?’ he thought and felt a wave of pain and sadness hit him making him nearly chock on his breath. He looked up at his brother whose eyes were closed and his lips were pressed into a thing line.

‘They still have her.’ Johnathan voice muttered in Edward’s head.

‘Do you know if they will bring her soon?’ Edward thought and Johnathan shook his head.
