LISTEN TO THE SONG ON THE SIDE WHILE READING!!!

It had been a week- or at least Ella thought it had been a week- since she was thrown into that awful dark room.  She was so cold, her body wouldn’t stop shaking. Her skin had turned even paler than it had ever been and she was sure her lips were blue. She was in so much pain- she was surprised that someone could feel so much pain. Her whole body hurt and she was covered in cuts and bruises from where Johnathan grabbed her when she tried to run away. Her stomach was growling pitifully and her throat was so dry. She stared at the plate of food one of the guards had placed in-front of her an hour ago for her to eat and the half-filled water cup. She wanted to scoop up the food and water and drown in down. But she couldn’t even lift her arm without wincing in pain. She had already lost count of how many times she had died and came back.

All that was on her mind was Edward. She wondered where he was, what he was doing. Why he hadn’t come to save her? Is he even looking for me anymore? She wondered sadly before a thought occurred to her. What if he didn’t even start looking?! What if he had just ordered Diana or any other witch to unlink us, so he could be free?! Free of me and my burden. Ella could clearly remember the talk they had with Diana a week before her birthday. Ella wanted to know more about the bond she and Edward had. So Edward had taken her to Diana’s house and asked her to tell them more about their unique bond.

“Your bond is unique, there wasn’t and wouldn’t be any like it. Mates in the supernatural world aren’t rare- but mates who can feel each other’s pain that has to be very, very rare- a one of a kind really.” Diana started once she had set down a tray with three cups of tea and a plate of cookies on the coffee table. Ella was about to interrupt to point out that she couldn’t feel Edward’s emotions or pain but Diana stopped her. “Let me finish! You can’t feel Edward’s feelings because the bond wasn’t completed. You have Edward’s blood running through you but Edward doesn’t have your blood in him. So the link is only one way- to change that you have to complete the bond. Long story short Edward has to drink a bit of your blood so the bond would be completed. But even then he wouldn’t be able to read your mind or compel you.” Diana said and Ella quickly and annoyingly- in Diana’s opinion asked why.

“You have the blood of an ORGINAL in your system Ella. And you know well that original vampires can’t be compelled, you are immune. But! You actually have the power to decide whether or not you want Edward to get into your head, it will even work like his and Johnathan’s bond! You would be able to talk to each other in your minds from a far!” Diana said in excitement and Ella and Edward’s jaw were pretty much on the floor.

“I can?”

“She can?”

Edward and Ella had asked at the same time and Diana had nodded with a chuckle. She took a sip of her warm tea before she answered them. “Yes, you can Ella”.

“But How? I-I mean I tried before to let Edward in my head but it never worked!” Ella exclaimed after she had taken a bit of the delicious cookies her aunt had made.

“You need to try hard enough- you need to want it hard enough for the protective shield around you to crack. But first you and Edward have to finish the ‘bond’s ceremony’” Diana said and Edward and Ella shared a look before Ella replied. “I want to finish it now.”

“Are you sure? You know if you ever want to unlink yourself from the other it will be easy like snapping a thread?” Diana said she just wanted to inform them of that option so later on if they wanted nothing to do with each other they could break the bond forever. “But once the bond is broken it can’t be made again.”

“We don’t care! Just tell us how to finish it.” Ella said impatiently and Diana sighed with a nod of her head.

“Try hard enough.” Ella mumbled as she rested the back of her head against the brick wall. Ella closed her eyes and started searching her brain for something- anything that felt like a shield in her head. Minutes, then hours passed before Ella felt it- it was a strange feeling. But there was a part of her brain that felt like a wall was surrounding it preventing even Ella! From exploring the deepest of it. Ella sighed before she breathed in deeply and closed her eyes tighter. She started pushing and pushing against the wall from every angle. The wall seemed to push back but after an hour or two of that Ella finally sensed a crack in the wall of the shield and she couldn’t keep the grin off of her face as she pushed against the crack making it expand inch by inch before at last it all crumbled.

Suddenly Ella’s head was swarmed with so many emotions that she felt slightly light headed. The emotions all unexpectedly vanished and Ella froze sinking either the wall was back up or Edward had already unlinked them. But then suddenly Ella felt a presence in her head. It is impossible to describe what it felt like. But she knew, the presence in her head was Edward. She could feel it- feel him, there. She had never felt so close to someone else in her life than she did right then. She wanted to test Diana’s words. She wanted to see if she really could talk to him through their link. So she tried.

“Edward?” she called out in her head and for a few seconds nothing happened but then a shaky voice replied.

“Ella?”
